About to put together a single 7970 rig for my first mining experiment. I got a msi z77a-g43 board with 4 pcie slots, 4gb ram, i3 processor, 850 watt psu. Plan on adding the other 3 GPUs soon. Any tips or suggestions? I plan on mining LTC to start.

Sounds good. I'm curious to see how long GPU mining will remain profitable on litecoin.

You don't really need an i3 to get the mining going. Just get the cheapest you can find will do.

I would recommend that you look for a 1200W PSU instead since you were planning to mine on 4 GPUs.

I am sure a long time.

LTC is here to stay.

Don't skimp on the power supply. While you can get a cheap processor, an overtaxed power supply can end your mining before you ever get a proper start.

Get risers so you can arrange the cards for proper cooling.
Have fun

i made the mistake with 7970...i believe its better 7850 or even better 7950 (350 and 600 kh/s)

I don't have a signature because I'm not a customary person.

7950 would be better and easier to setup for ltc mining.

I currently have two 7970s running and two more on the way, without risers the two currently are running pretty hot but I expect the risers any day now.

Tip : nothing is going to go as smoothly as you think it will. Be prepared to tinker a lot with the hardware/software  Wink

But it's worth it  Smiley
