i just got an email from an insider mt gox has lost a lot of people's bitcoins, that's why they are still down and don't know how to break this news to the customers.

one of the ideas they are tossing around is to rollback when 1btc = $30 so that people are generally happy, to keep them off for now.

Trade back to a week before this fiasco? Doubtful. More like $18, and that won't matter much when there is a huge run on the money to go to another exchange site.

BTC is decentralized.   MTGOX is not a central bank.  they have no way to decide the price of BTC.  30$ or 300$ at MTGOX means nothing.

A rollback on mtgox won't help people who has mybitcoin accounts that were stolen as a direct result of the mtgox password leak Sad

You'd need to rollback the entire block chain, and that ain't gonna happen
