Ethereum's collapse is going to hurt Bitcoin more than MtGox. When you have mainstream media spreading FUD about Bitcoin and you have them

hype up a ScamCoin like Ethereum, you must know that they are desperate. They like the fact that it has a centralized authority and they like the

fact that you have UNLIMITED coins. {More or less the same thing Fiat currencies have in common with them}

Have a look at this --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UBk1e5qnr4 { Ethereum Vs. Bitcoin: What Sets Them Apart? | CNBC  }

The SEC has not even defined what Ethereum is yet, and if it is classed as a security... the Founders and Developers will be guilty of trading in

unregistered securities. Wow, why are people looking the other way, when Ethereum is clearly a Ponzi Scheme? { Greed? }

We may see a temporal downtrend if Ethereum collapses, because its marketcap is now on the several billions, enough to create a global downtrend, even if not as strong as Bitcoin of course.

But the point is, Bitcoin will survive, and after Ethereum collapses, the resilience of Bitcoin will grow even more. A lot of people will sell for Bitcoin, so in the long term this only helps Bitcoin. Bitcoin doesn't need any other altcoin, they all could die and it wouldn't matter, it's alts that need a strong Bitcoin.

Since I'm still new in this field, I can not give an unambiguous answer, although I already understand that Bitcoin has a more expensive price, but the etherium is more in demand on the market. Sorry if I do not understand something

...

I do not know much about ethereum, so take my comments for what they worth (extremely little).

Ethereum is, to some degree or other backed by THE BANKS (including JP Morgan), which just by itself makes me a little queasy.  Ethereum also performs other functions (it's designed to not "just be a currency").  I like simple things, that is, Bitcoin is meant to be used as a currency, it makes no claims to preserve copies of contracts, etc. (although there are some clever programs that somewhat have the BTC Blockchain do that).

So I will stick with BTC as long as there appears to be progress on solving the scaling problem.

That is for sure,if Ethereum collapses then all the coins that started their business depending on ETH will suffer and they will be forced to change to alternative methods or will force them to create their own block chain or find out a good alternative.

Another Bitcoin clown trying to scare people out of Ethereum. What a crap. Ethereum didn't collapse, it was a correction caused by the fucking coin base plus more bitcoin clowns publishing Fake news. BITCOIN fags are scared of ethereum taking the number one place. People please don't listen to these idiots. There is a wild battle going on between the two top coins and these bitcoin stupids are soooo dirty they will do anything to scare people away from Ether. Just ignore them

A crash of ETH will end in an unbelievable lost of trust in every cryptocurrency.
Many, many people (me too) came into the market, because they heard of ETH.
If these people will loose all their money, they will never invest money again.
Marketcap ...?
Worst case:
This people will demand regulation!

Finally a crash of ETH will be the best for the system.
Because it authorizes the system to take control.

Read these 2 articles.

http://www.coindesk.com/financial-stability-board-blockchain-raise-cross-border-data-issues/

http://www.coindesk.com/asic-on-blockchain-australias-securities-watchdog-unlikely-to-regulate-icos/

Those articles are essentially saying that government interference might take a longer time than expected before the SEC or any government regulator can define them as unregistered securities.

We all know that the legal uncertainty is there but there are no concrete policies being made to stop them.

It is a shame for common sense to compare Ethereum with Bitcoin. They are not even in the same category, class.

The demise of ETH people were predicting just a few days ago never materialised and calling it a scam is complete FUD. Anyone who can't see the benefits of a coin with smartcontracts needs to take another think about why it has become so popular.

probally because gpu miners had something to mine... i wonder what they will do with their gpu farms if eiszeit shuts them down. i do not think it is a good idea closing it for outsiders. it does not make sense to me getting more eth just because u own some eth.

EVERY Crypto? Thats idiotic. Nobody loses faith in BMW when General Motors goes down in flames. The money is there, people want to invest. Crypto is already starting to get well established. BTC will suck up 50% of ETH market cap, rest goes into other alts. Maybe 5% "lose faith", they are pretty much irrelevant. More money is pouring in over the long course.

What scam projects, just because you don't like how some projects went doesn't make them a scam? And as far as I know Vitalik came out to say he won't be an advisor on any new ICOs.

i agree with this.
in short term there may be some turbulence if the market maker decides but the fall of ether means a lot of money will come back to bitcoin market.
and hopefully people start thinking more next time they want to invest in an altcoin that only advertises against bitcoin to make itself popular and pump the price up.

I thought Ethereum was being developed by Microsoft? Highly doubtful that it would outright collapse. With that said, I am not too well versed about it, so my opinion isn't very strong here.

apparently those shills who have not been online for days now done their job pretty well!
no my friend you have fallen for a big lie. Microsoft or any other legit company would never get involved with something like ethereum. if they were in the same place with them or talked about blockchain technology and its future doesn't mean they are involved!

Ethereum and Bitcoin,
the reality is that the project is very different and has different intentions.
Bitcoin has emerged as a relatively stable digital currency, while Ethereum aims to include more, with ether being only a component of its smart contract application.

Wow, when people shill for Ethereum and then have the guts to ask other people if they shill for Bitcoin, then you have to ask yourself, wtf are

wrong with people. This is a Bitcoin forum, hence the name ---> Bitcointalk.org. <--- Here we primarily talk about Bitcoin. We do not

promote Alt coins or even shill for it. You have to be blind, not to see that Ethereum is a ScamCoin. Claiming that Microsoft is invested in

Ethereum is WRONG, they showed interest in the technology/idea behind it.... like companies that are interested in the Blockchain technology...

not in Bitcoin. Just shows how little people know and how they will twist the facts to suit them and their hidden agendas.  Roll Eyes

So you prefer bitcoin because of the price of bitcoin? I choose ethereum because this is the coin that you can use to earn more bitcoin, this is the coin that you will never afraid to invest. Because I hope this ethereum price will become x2 or x3 or more, many projects are in this coin so I have a big trust in this coin.

i still love bitcoin than ethereum though ethereum give me some profits when i put some money on it or in short investments bitcoins is the most valuable coin as of today because of its price, either the ethereum but we know that bitcoins has the biggest price in two so i prefer bitcoins.

We all know ETH was pumped up because of the Hype and will never beat BTC and its fame. Its actually the other way around, ETH investors want to hurt BTC and want them to pull towards ETH. But that is never going to happen because ETH cant get that much of adaptation as BTC. The balloon will be popped.

This thread made me dizzy.

It seems to suggest we necessarily have to choose between the two. It doesn't sound to me like that though.

If anyone doesn't trust the hype that characterizes ETH right now, then perhaps a simple avoidance from it would suffice. No other crypto could replace the spot of bitcoin, after all. However, there are still people whose trust remains with the high ETH value. Let them be, then.

I don't suggest anything but I think I will be putting a little amount to ETH.

Ethereum's collapse is going to hurt Bitcoin more than MtGox. When you have mainstream media spreading FUD about Bitcoin and you have them

hype up a ScamCoin like Ethereum, you must know that they are desperate. They like the fact that it has a centralized authority and they like the

fact that you have UNLIMITED coins. {More or less the same thing Fiat currencies have in common with them}

Have a look at this --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UBk1e5qnr4 { Ethereum Vs. Bitcoin: What Sets Them Apart? | CNBC  }

The SEC has not even defined what Ethereum is yet, and if it is classed as a security... the Founders and Developers will be guilty of trading in

unregistered securities. Wow, why are people looking the other way, when Ethereum is clearly a Ponzi Scheme? { Greed? }

For me is not collapse, it's just speculation. We can't judge because the price going down so fast, there's a lot of player & exchanger use it for their business. Too early to say that or maybe you got " panic sell " or wrong take buy area. Keep calm and follow your strategy nicely but don't forget using stop loss. Good luck.

Counter argument: Should Ethereum collapse, more Fiat will stream into Bitcoin for lack of established alternatives in the Cryptocurrency space.

It's true. People have options to choose now a days. And the fiat as you said will be driven toward the loved bitcoin. Also not to mention that people are already very interested in the bitcoin as compared to ethereum so they make little investment into it. :-) Whatever it is, eth will never catch the big fish.

Finally a crash of ETH will be the best for the system.
Because it authorizes the system to take control.
What do you suggest, who will be taking control of the system,if you are talking about bitcoin,no one can, because it is a truly decentralized network and no one can take control of it,if you are into crypto currency because of ETH,it is your problem, from the first day it was meant to be a centralized coin with unlimited supply and all they do is invite business proposals to use their platform.

which is better?HuhHuhHuh
You do not need to think twice about bitcoin and the best thing is that, the best investment would be the coin that you are able to grab at a very low price and if you are able to do so,then that would be the biggest thing you can do,i would invest in a good ICO and then plan on converting it back to bitcoin and save for the future than trusting on ETH.

You know i posted a scam topic in 2014 on Ethereum.
You have 1 post.
Ever since i have RE-EXPLAINED the damn bullshit all day and ALL.. FUCKING.. NIGHT

..for years.

And all you sleazy greedy little cunts can do is say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat ?

Like seriously WTF ?
If i told you all how to get a pile of money i'd never have to repeat myself once.
But if i point out how EVERY aspect of Ethereum is scammy bullshit you all get bloody amnesia.

I don't suppose it would happen to have anything to do with the fact that you are all idiots.
And you don't know how to make money except by supporting ponzi's etc ?

A guy posts 100 technical reasons.
AND the response ? "FUD"  Roll Eyes

Ya.. you bet your god damn ass it's FUD.
It's 101% warranted.
And if you disagree you are a lying sack of fucking shit.

ETH has turned out to be a scam coin far faaaar worse than Doge coin ever was.
And boy you should read my "FUD" on Doge to see how much i like that shitcoin.
At least it was launched fairly not an ICO scam though.. unlike Scamereum.

I have 0 respect for ETH tard's.
None.
You support the garbage ......................for ROI's.
..then your a greedy inept cancer to crypto scumbag.

Why ?
It's YOUR job to figure out why.
Heard of due diligence ?
Google it LOL

There was a time when if i launched my own coin and premined 70 million of them then ICO'd the rest as a hollow pointless coin with no "app's" i would be flamed off the board hard.
Now ?
You all chocked to death with corpses piled high dead from sucking scammer ROI's dick.

Cause of death doctor ?
Choking on scammy cock. Cry

This is literally a tornado of scam.
There is nothing at all what so ever legit about any of this retarded bullshit.
Might as well rename it all.. www.Premined_ICO_crowd_Sale_Nigerian_Fuel_Token_APPS_Free_Market_Profits_Coins_ Exchanger_Profesional_Inevstments.com

Ethereum is literally a cancer to crypto.

Ethereum's collapse is going to hurt Bitcoin more than MtGox. ...

nah, i don't think so.
collapse of Mt Gox didn't hurt bitcoin at all the pump before the collapse hurt bitcoin, and that is a big difference.
the pump pushed the price into a huge bubble which needed to burst and that took a long time and also it was followed by the collapse and people losing their money and all that drama which caused some problems.
otherwise without the pump and if they weren't that big, the "hurt" would have been the same as bitfinex getting hacked.

and the same will be true about ether. FUD can only have an effect to some extent. there has always been a lot of FUD against bitcoin from day 1. people calling it ponzi, scam, bubble, and lots of different things and you can see they all have a temporary effect and then fade away.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

What you see (BTC included) is if the scheme pays out then it gets more popular.
I really don't think you all have taken the time to look at MLM, Pyramid or Ponzi style scams.

Let me put it this way.
If it's not used as a currency then ?
It's not a fucking currency !

So what is it then ?
scammy bullshit for profits.
AKA: a quantifiable and proven new age digital pyramid scheme.

You all can't deny it either because it's simple mechanics.

Influences on the scam mean nothing.
They are still a scam whether some "news" makes it popular or not.

I have never seen ANYTHING in my entire life that was more deserving of FUD.
Even BITCOIN ! Read the Ray Kurzweil "FUD" on BTC recently ?
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/ray-kurzweil-bitcoin-wouldnt-put-money-182013910.html
I read arguments before on how BTC is a pyramid / ponzi and they are highly compelling and logical.
Google it.. but i know you all won't.

Why ?

ROI's.

Fear ?
Uncertainty ?
Doubt ?

..i would LOVE to see some of you hauled away to jail for not claiming your profits with the tax man.
And you know what "penny stocks" traders ?

I expect better from you.
I expect you all to be BETTER than stock market scumbags.. not worse.

There is nothing to defend here.
This shit is a joke.

Those clowns are here few years and had chance to learn important things, such as how to gain profit and not get too emotionally attached to en investment. Majority telling truth about ETH, but you chose is what you want to believe.

Because it is a balloon, and few days before we had early signs, dump to 0.10$. I won't say it is scam, but it is "forked", centralised, and overhyped.

Don't use bad words please. This is an discussion thread of altcoin so respect all of their opinions about ethereum or about bitcoin. We don't know what will happen before august 1 but I'm sure all of you are just speculating right now. Just wait what will happen before August 1.
