Nobody here use a machine only to store your wallet, or a virtual machine? Huh I think it's a safe requirement for those who install a wallet on their  machine. I thought it was a generalized practice as your computer can be less secure than an online wallet for exemple

I only used coins.ph. as what i know its the only  trusted btc wallet  here in philippines.

yes, same here, I'm only using coin.ph

What do you like so much about this purse? I use the simplest blockchain.info. It seems to me that this is also a reliable purse. I've never heard of the fact that coins can steal coins from this purse

Keeping your coins on any online wallet/exchange is not safe, you are not in possession of your private keys(which is most important thing)and online wallets are always at risk to be hacked. Most of users find this way of storing coins easiest, but in terms of security it is on last place.

I use MultiBit before, now I am on Electrum and it is very good desktop wallet, only thing you need to keep coins safe is your seed words. But even desktop wallet can be hacked if there is no some basic security on PC.

Regarding hacking coins from blockchain.info wallet you should read this topic, and if you use search option surely you will find more.

I have seen many Philipino people using coins.ph I guess they are biased towards this wallet just because it has .ph in the address.
But I wouldn't go as far to say that this wallet is trusted, or better than any SPV software wallet you can use.
If you care about mobility then mobile version of Electrum should be good enough, I recommend this wallet instead of coins.ph.

Electrum is a lightweight wallet that is another option which provides fairly secure storage without jamming up your entire computer. It does not clog up the entire storage space on your computer as it is a lightweight wallet. I would suggest Electrum for you. For Electrum:
  • Your private keys are encrypted and never leave your computer.
  • You can export your private keys and use them in other Bitcoin clients.
  • Keep your private keys offline, and go online with a watching-only wallet.
  • Your funds can be recovered from a secret phrase.
  • Electrum servers are decentralized and redundant. Your wallet is never down.
  • Electrum is fast, because it uses servers that index the Bitcoin blockchain.
  • Electrum Wallet verifies all the transactions in your history using SPV.

in case, my computer is infected with a virus or other malware, is that still safe?

It's good that you're questioning your very own PC because you never actually know. Even with a good antiVirus, we're still not sure if somewhere in your computer there's a malware. A good way to go is to move all your files to an external drive and then format your computer. After that, install an operating system. I know that you're probably going to go with Windows but Linux is a thousand times better when it comes to virus. You just can't infect Linux. Anyway, Windows will do. Don't connect your computer to the Internet yet. Create your wallet, then that's it. Remove the wallet file to your computer by putting it on a flash drive. You now have an offline wallet.

Any attacks from the Internet like clicking the a malicious link, you're wallet is safe from those.

I use electrum as of now because when i searched the wallets that supported the BIP148 then electrum is one of them and based on the reviews and ratings that i saw, electrum is having a good rating and good review so i don't take any hesitation to download it and use it until now because i feel safe because of the features that electrum have that i can't see that other wallets have.

Im using coins.ph for too long now. As this apps is easy to use, no fees when sending funds to the same addresses. Also, its easy to exchange into fiat currency. Whereas can send from coins.ph to any remittance and banks. Anyone can use any wallet as long they are safe, secure and easy to use.

What's the safest online wallet to use? I'd love to use cold storage but annoyingly temporarily don't have the facilities

what do you mean by "facilities" a cold storage doesn't really need anything special or weird! you just disconnect your internet and run a live linux to make a paper wallet for example.

but if you are looking for an "online" wallet then use a light (aka SPV) wallet such as electrum or multibit-HD on your desktop computer.

I mean I have no personal laptop which I can use to download software and have therefore restricted myself to online exchanges to store my coins

I used different wallet like coins.ph , blockchain , and coinbase . This three wallet its very safe and easy to use. And for sure if you try to use this you will be satisfy to their services .  But I dont know if coins.ph is for the world wide wallet because I know this wallet if for asia only. But coinbase and blockchain for sure its for the world wide wallet and you can use it for sure. Dont put all your bitcoin in one wallet just spread it.

I used coins.ph here in the Philippines it is the most used one and basically it is the only one that has a regular wallet we can lean on but there are other wallets like rebit.ph and bitbit.ph but it is only used for remittances in the Philippines and abroad. The only problem with it is that it has high transaction fees and many costumers are complaining about it. Hope that they will adjust that complaints so soon.

Me that is my main bitcoin wallet because on that wallet we can easily cash out or easily exchange our bitcoin into fiat and lot of good services offer to users. Then also i am using multiple bitcoin wallet which is my recieving wallet of my earnings in different methods of warning in bitcoin then i would transfer it to my main wallet which is coins.ph.

Filipino wallet, does not look globally matured wallet like coinbase or blockchain.info. From the beginning to now. I am using blockchain and multibit desktop wallet. Once I noticed fees seems ridiculous in online wallet.
Now I completely depend on the multibit wallet only because we can modify the fees and network which ever we wish to move towards.

In the past, I used Coinbase, but after some time, I felt it was not safe because it was an online wallet, the risk of being exploited was very high, I learned and switched to electrum, it was also Many people like. It is not completely secure, but I find its security is pretty good and I trust it

I have always used MultiBT, however the safest way to store Bitcoins is definitely with a paper wallet. It is essentially like cash.

Using a web wallet is cool too, also for paper wallets, but the thing is, I got scared whenever I store my bitcoins into paper wallet because I might delete it or some virus affect it. I don't know how will I react on that if it happened.

I am using a web wallet now and it seems nice and efficient whenever I need some money, I can convert some coins and get then on ATMs or banks, or other cash pickups.
