https://www.ledgerwallet.com you can buy it here

quote from their shopping cart:

I understand that due to a very high level of demand, my order will not be shipped before: September 4, 2017

I assume this was exactly the problem the OP was facing...

@OP: most hardware wallets producers still seem to have some stock, but ledger does indeed seem to have run out... I tried several retailers from https://www.ledgerwallet.com/retailers, but it seems none have their wallet available.

You can buy a trezor on there shop and they have a lot of stock for sure but the only disadvantage of having a trezor wallet compare to other hardware wallet is, they don't support a lot of coins and just a few selected coin which is a downside for me because i am expecting a lot of coin to be supported because hardware wallet is the best type of wallet to store coins so they need to support a lot of coins from the market.

Yea you're right. A lot of wallets seem to be sold out due to huuuuge demand. I would just wait it out man and make sure you buy a decent hardware wallet like keepkey when it's back in stock.

Trezor are in stock. But if you want my advice, I would say buying one can wait. I bought one that arrived last week and it made me feel like it was a wasted purchase. I store my seeds and private keys well enough for me not to need a hardware wallet.

My overpriced Trezor is just one more seed to back up and store.

will eventually buy a trezor but yes, being limited to the number of coins supported is a minus

It's really good sir if you'll do this, I mean having a cold wallet rather than storing it into online wallet that you didn't know what would happen, but yeah. I know there are available in ebay, just try to search it sir.

I agree with this. If you're concerned with security you can create a paper wallet, which is 100% secure. The only use case for a HW wallet is for a large account that you're constantly withdrawing from, which for most people isn't the case. For 100s or 1000s of $ an iPhone app wallet is good enough.

You can always get an USB stick and just put your keys on there, be it a paper wallet image, or a wallet.dat bitcoin core wallet, or whatever else, just be sure to encrypt the thing.

I guess the special appeal with hardware wallets is that they isolate the device from the OS so even if the OS is infected, nothing happens.

I was just going to ask about the advantages, and last reply worked for me  Grin I guess you also save space vs. having all the blockchain in the HD right?

Thanks.

Keepkey can be vulnerable to attack from what I gather.

USBs can contain malicious software. I wouldn't keep any type of wallet on one.

I was lucky to grab a KK off of Amazon a while back before they became like unicorns Wink it's fuckin great, Im still running the beta Chrome extension that gives you multiple cointypes and ShapeShift™ integrated (can't help it, I'm on a phone and it just looks so damned official). And if I break it, meh, I'll buy another and use the key phrase to restore. If I can buy one now, LOL.

Best purchase ever. But I would kill for it to have buttons (numerical) and the shifting pin thing (it's hard for me to explain) is an absolute pain if you unplug the device frequently.

Like, why do I keep hearing hardware wallets are so hard to find? Is the demand really that bigger than the supply, or are they simply not making enough of these?

The shipping dates seem to be getting longer and longer and the prices of available units seem to be rising.

I was checking the price of Ledger Nano S's on Ebay. In March they were selling for £60 ish. Some are now going for over £200.

The pesky demand isn't letting up.

The lack of hard buttons are the keys to malicious software being able to steal your funds on the keepkey. AVOID.

What a bunch of rabbish in that website. That's NOT a hardware wallet by any means. Buyers beware, and stick with the popular Ledger/Trezor (Maybe Keepkey too).
