There’s a lot of talk about drug purchases on darknet markets with bitcoin and the use of the censorship-resistant currency growing within the online gambling industry. However, there is another taboo industry that uses bitcoin more profoundly than we can imagine — The pornography business has been embracing bitcoin for quite some time and continues to adopt the digital asset for payments at an exponential rate.The global porn industry is a multi-billion dollar operation that continues to grow bigger every single year. Although the discussion of porn and bitcoin may be unfavorable to certain cryptocurrency proponents, the decentralized currency is used quite a bit within the adult industry. In 2017 there is a vast array of online porn sites that accept bitcoin for payments such as Amateur Canada, Hustler, alongside giant sized adult service providers such as Xhamster, Porn.com, Naughty America, and more. Industries are really evolving around bitcoin. I saw few ads here in our forum for porn show? that accepts bitcoin as well. I guess bitcoin is really a technology that revolutionized almost all industries now. They have adopted it and I think its just a matter of time that bitcoin will be really mass adopted.

It's nice that merchants (yes, porn sites are merchants too) accept Bitcoin as payment solution, but we shouldn't over-exaggerate this to such an extent, that it is a big deal for Bitcoin. Also to keep in mind, is the fact that they make use of third party payment processors to take care of everything Bitcoin related -- the merchants themselves just get the fiat in the end. I know enough sites that aren't yet accepting Bitcoin....

"Continues to adopt", that's precious bitcoin. You cannot continue to adopt something, you have either adopted it or you have not. Even if you stop using the coin, it as adopted and that can never be changed.

How can you expect any other groups to adopt something when the current people that gather around it cannot even speak. It is people like this that make us look bad and make us look like a bunch of lost sheep.

the more institutions,merchants,organisations and people start to directly accept bitcoins for their goods the better adoption rate is,porn industry is one of the largest merchants out there (especially for male's population) some have been accepting bitcoins long time ago,like virtual chats and stripshows the problem here is they use third parties to process and exchange bitcoins,NOT accepting bitcoins directly most of the sites use fiat currency,so they add bitcoins just for their client's convenience not talking about the darknet,where one can buy archives of porn for bitcoins if you wanted

For other people, it is just a means to transfer value. They don't care about the infighting within Bitcoin users. That shouldn't stop porn users (or anybody else) from using Bitcoin to make payments in a secure and private way.

It seems that this is very easy to implement and all the world will see it is very revolutionary depending on the seriousness of the developer, the team and the strong promotion.

Porn is not taboo in many countries, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pornography_by_region .... so saying it is taboo, is showing the unbiased labelling being done. The porn industry in the US alone is $4.3 billion and declining every day, with so much free porn being available everywhere on the internet. So this is a highly competitive environment to operate in. It will just make sense for porn sites to add a new payment option that are also worth Billions.

The porn industry is actually one of the few industries that are fast in adopting new innovations so this news is not really that surprising to me. This industry is called a dirty industry but it is a big one with multi-billion sales under its own pocket. Millions all over the world enjoyed watching porn and they are so willing to get Bitcoin to pay their membership fees, sidetracking the use of credit/debit cards.
In fact, there is SexCoin introduced months ago which market is the porn industry. I don't know if that coin is still alive today though. Anyway, am sure that the porn industry can be a future big contributor for the expanding Bitcoin market. I do hope, however, that we can soon expand to all other industries in a global scale.
By the way, anybody here who is regularly using Bitcoin to pay for porn...please share your experience.

Taboo is mainly about social and religious restrictions, rather than legal ones. Your link details the law about it in various countries, but that isn't relevant to whether Bitcoin would be preferred. The point is that revealing your personal information to porn sites for payments is scary for some people because they want complete privacy about what they're doing (it's embarrassing). The problem with too many of these sites accepting Bitcoin as payments is that they're law-abiding websites, and they could face backlash from the state if they accepted payments from minors or people in states where buying porn is illegal.
While paying for porn is a very slowly dying thing IMO, it can still increase awareness.

While paying for porn is a very slowly dying thing IMO, it can still increase awareness. Yes, and Bitcoin with it's pseudo anonymity gives people that privacy. Whenever you use your credit card or PayPal or any other regulated and centralized payment option, you are sacrificing your sensitive data. Why do some government agency need to know what type of legal porn you are watching? Yes, there are some illegal porn that should not be associated with Bitcoin, but that is out there for free in any way, if you are into that type of trash. The Blockchain can actually serve as a tool to catch some of these people, if they use the technology in the wrong way. {Hint : Tell them to use it and follow their bread crumbs}

I'm sure there will be a full set of perversions. But this is not the method of payment to blame, but the level of development of each person. And also upbringing. Do not need to connect these two words - "bitcoin" and "porn"
