Remote monitoring, I use some app I downloaded to show that the machines are hashing. Could have just made a php-api app myself, but why reinvent the wheel. (For me)
Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

I also used a 4-port KVM locally built a whole enclosure around the machines(boxfans forcing air through a rack of sorts) ahh how i miss it. logmein worked well enough remotely although wasn't anywhere as nice as that looks.
