Hi guys, today indian government as announced the law for goods and service tax. Prime minister has said that GST is the biggest tax reform since india has got independence and this tax will make india as one unified tax market. My question is will this tax goin affect people or will it benfit them.

The taxes have gone up from 15 to 18%. How are we going to pay the taxes now when they are so high. It's insane.

I do not think that gst wil be of help to common people in tamilnadu. Since the launch of gst there are many people who are gone strict for past 5 days and due to this many have lost their work.

Cinema theatres closed for past 4 days and will continue.
Textile makers are on strike from wednesday. If this situation continues what will happen?Huh No one knows

It is true that this tax reform will effect people in short term but in long term it is beneficial for the country. It extends growth rate and the country will become one unified tax market.
It is the biggest tax reform in the country till independence.

Let's add more substance to this discussion by including the effects of GST on status of bitcoin and similar digital currencies in India.
Presently it remains unregulated but the government shows some serious interest to look into different ways for taxation of bitcoin transactions.
What can the possible outcomes be?
Would the government accept bitcoin as a conventional currency like printed and minted ones or characterize them as personal assets.?  Wink

GST  has been launched in India from 1st July 2017 and GST effects a lot various sectors.
GST impact on common man we can see:

Services are expensive
Prices of essential services are likely to increase
Automobiles and vehicles are likely to drop a price
Basic food essential items will not impact with GST

Its WE only who are going to suffer in anyway. Indian government wants to gather money from the public as much as possible. TAX is the best way for them to do this.
