Likewise, much will depend a lot on the length of the password. If it is 4 vs 40 characters for example. Alpha vs alphanumeric, lowercase, mixed case, etc.  The more you can recall the better.

you can also look at the gobitgo method which i am now trying after the BTCRecover method.

This method uses John The Ripper as the password brute method.

a bit of a warning though as the instructions are not very succinct and the versions on some of the software doesn't clone correctly from GIT if at all so you may need to load the linux package locally.

i used the ruby python method of brute forcing and couldn't get it to work even with a known password.

BTCRecover however worked with a known password.i Believe my example may be far too long for this method.

I suggest you test it on a known wallet first or you may be wasting your time.

The problem is if you use a normal password (a real strong password for protecting your money, not your birth date or something like that), no one of these solution will work.

these are the essential questions and some more, let me summarise:
- length of the password, exact or from X to Y
- is it generated by random password generator, like YRghf%%545345tf6%^RGFGJE$% or it is based on words, numbers, special chars
- what are the words if any, what are they position in the password, the same for the numbers and special chars, how many of them, what are they and their position
- are there any Capital letters, positions
- are there any spaces, tabs or enters, how many and positions
- what are your Operating System, language, keyboard layout

give some examples what the password may look like, I mean you are trying to enter but it's incorrect.

If you can answer to any of these questions, the password may be recovered and we can help you
