[OS] ocFACTORY easy-to-use Linux Imaging Solution v0011

Fellow miners,

this is the build I use to image nvOC and rxOC USB keys.  I am providing it to the community 100% free, with no fees.

ocFACTORY is a customized Ubuntu 16.04 build which is ultra portable and should work with any computer (tell me if it doesn't work with yours).

ocFACTORY is easy-to-use and includes the nvOC_v0017 and rxOC_v0012 images.

If you don't have an imaging program already download HDDRawCopy (Link)

Or get etcher for Mac / Linux / Windows Link

v0011 zip should extract on OSX / *nix / Windows  

v0011 is 62.9gb

Please Note: ensure your build PC has at least 90gb of free space before downloading. This is the total space the zip + extracted img will take up.

ENSURE THAT YOU unzip the image BEFORE YOU IMAGE YOUR USB  


Use HDDRawCopy or etcher to image the extracted img file to the 64gb or larger SSD or USB ( see this guide for an HDDRawCopy walkthru )


I recommend imaging to a sata or m2 SSD; as it will most likely be able to create images 40% faster than if you use a USB key.


At boot etcher will launch automatically.

ocFACTORY includes plusCPU miner and the openSSH client.  It can be used as a control PC for all your rigs.  At boot a bash script called cmd will launch in the guake terminal.  (cmd is located in the /home directory.)

I will periodically update cmd with more features.  

If you are using ocFACTORY as a control PC for your rigs I recommend using the gnome terminal for each SSH session (this is why I swapped the terminal uses).

When I finish the: monitor / push / update / dashboard app it will be optimized for ocFACTORY.

ocFACTORY uses the base Ubuntu driver.  You can increase the resolution by: selecting the ubuntu launcher at the top left and typing:

If you are using windows:

open a cmd prompt:

click the start button and type:

Note: you can find the file path by right clicking the zip and selecting properties


If you are using linux:

open a terminal and enter the following:

then the ZIP_containing_the_image is good

Note: you can also type sha256sum then drag the zip to the terminal window to add the absolute path without typing it.

ocFACTORY is intended to be a one time download.  The firefox has a link to the nvOC and rxOC OPs.  Future nvOC and rxOC releases can be downloaded direct on ocFACTORY.

Future ocFACTORY releases will be the OS only (no images included).  As ocFACTORY is not intended for rigs it should not require many if any changes to the system itself.


For this initial release; it is my hope that members will spam crypto;

this weekend in the US individuals with gather with family and friends.

ocFACTORY ( once imaged ) reduces the technical barrier to start mining

You can download the image, extract and image it to a 64gb or larger USB key or SSD

give that USB or SSD to a friend / family member / co-worker

and they can easily image nvOC and rxOC USB keys


btw thanks for showing me etcher; it is by far the simplest imaging program I have used.

Unfortunately this did not work for me.  20% downloaded and then a box popped up saying I have to wait 5 hours to continue.  Is there anywhere else I can download this to try?  I would certainly pay for this, I would just rather you get the money than mega.

I didn't realize MEGA was so bad with large files.  I thought it would be better to use MEGA for this; as members would be able to pause the download if needed. 

I will upload the image to Google Drive.  This will take a while; I'll link the zip when its done.

or is it just a SO with the right tools and nvOC image to facilitate the flashing process?

It is the second.

You can mod nvOC if you want; its linux, you can do almost anything with it.

I don't currently have enough time to maintain this in addition to nvOC / rxOC so it is EOL until I have more time.
