I would like to know.
should I buy bitcoin right now or just wait after 1 August 2017.

If everyone predict that the price is fall down after 1 August 2017 then I will wait and see it.

Every time when a segwit is taken place, of course Bitcoin price will change. I think its price will change, increase up to 10% - 20% because this segwit2x  really affects to everyone.

I am hearing a lot of rumors from last two months that the price of bitcoin will crash down on first of August. I believe if the rumors were true, we could see the price of bitcoin falling from now on.

But there isn't any effect on price of bitcoin. Infect the price is getting higher and higher. I would suggest not to believe in these rumors. Go and buy your bitcoin now as the prices will go higher and higher as the time will pass. If you buy the bitcoin now, you will get the more advantage. I hope price will rise up to 20% only . The ratio might decrease a bit.

This is obvious: It's just more FUD by bitmain and roger to trigger newbies into panic selling so they can buy cheaper coins, they also delay the activation of segwit to get more fees. They know that if they hardfork, they would be ruined by the whales. They can't hardfork or they will go bankrupt. Just hold through it and if there is a dip buy more.

Not sure which way it will go, but I'll transfer my bitcoin to a wallet with private keys rather than keeping some in coinbase, who has proved to be unreliable on a regular basis, let alone a hard fork.

Maybe yes or maybe no, because I think if Bitcoin crashes and goes having a LeftFork and RightFork like with 'ETH and ETHClassic' that splits into two it will devalue the other split and maybe downtrend also the other one and the coping up process of the price will take time again.

And maybe when everything goes smoothly at what Bitcoin developers and users wishes then it will boom the price up to $5000 in my perspective because having a patch or changes that has no bug means a successful transition that could lead positive effect to the whole community and will surely boots their confidence for another milestone.

I would bet the price is only affected a bit, at most. It wont be affected as much as most people think it will be, that is for sure.

So you mean that if two chains are formed after August 1st then the value of both chains will be same and there would not be any impact of it on the price of bitcoin! I highly doubt it.
In the case of two chains, only one chain will succeed as in case of ETH and ETC, ETC is having very less price as compared to ETH.

I just updated my Skype. Yet I still hold Microsoft stocks. It is the same scenario with Bitcoin. An update is coming so I have to decide if I want to hold more or less Bitcoin.
Will this update affect Bitcoin negatively? Probably not, but you should always calculate with a small dip and no matter what happens you must not panic.

There are a lot of thread popping similar to the this thread. A lot of people are worrying about the Aug 1 date. To be honest, no one really knows what will be the outcome after this date. That is why it is said that we need to have control of our bitcoin with our private keys and hold on it and let the dust settles and see what direction the market is going.

When the price fall then consider it a perfect opportunity to accumulate more bitcoin. Again, bitcoin has already face numerous bumps around the road and it proves that it can really recover from any price fall. I'm positive that the Segwit2x activation will bring positive news to bitcoin market and we are going to see a strong price when everything is settled down.

I think August one will definitely have and effect to Bitcoin price.  Whether it will go up or go down depends on which side is more convincing, those who spread FUD or those who spread Hype,  I think we need to wait for that day to come so we will know if it will have a positive or negative effect  once the Bitcoin update is implemented.

there is a mixed situation i think.. some people are thinking that bitcoin price will badly effect and will drop to a low level where as other people are pretty confident about the price of bitcoin and think that it will continue even after some 1st August.

Yeah, a lot of mixed feeling around here and added by a lot of FUD as well. We can only speculate what will be impact of the activation in Aug 1. But I think it will not break bitcoin ecosystem and will continue to flourish along the way eventhough the price may crash. But sooner or later it will recover and the price is going somewhere along the $3000-$5000 range.

I don't think it will effect the price. Some say it will make or break Bitcoin. Same was said about the halving. Everything will be fine the world won't end. I doubt it will even fork. Just to be safe though take your coins out if all exchanges to your in wallet where you in the private key.

Of course yes bitcoins price will goes up because the activation of segwit2x is fixing for bitcoins, we can see bitcoin's price now is starting going up, in my opinions you buy bitcoins right now because there are chance you will get two bitcoins because of this hard fork, it is mean you will get extra money, but you must calculate about risk losing money in bitcoins.

So many rumors about 1 August make me scary. Besides when all of you thinks that BTC grows up, hmmm

It will definitely affect the price of Bitcoin because of the new protocols, now in what manner the price will be affected, don't know seriously.

Its not same as halving, the chain will be split which will result two coins from now on which each has different features. Is it possible the marketcap will also be split? Who knows. LITEcoin went well after segwit which some of btc enthusiast fight for. The more the merrier though BitcoinDark, BitcoinPlus, BU and whatelse they can think of.

Jihan and Roger are the two loudest dogs barking all day long. It's funny how they so badly rely on Bitcoin, but don't mind to prevent it from growing further, and even work against the community by cluttering the network with their spam attacks. I personally prefer a scenario where the economic majority agrees on a certain proposal, but on the other hand, I wouldn't mind Jihan and Roger to fork off completely. I however find it hard to believe that they will take the gamble where they fork off, and potentially destructively harm their operations as result -- we'll soon find out.

The activation of segwit on August will definitely affect the price of Bitcoin. It will either be positive or negative but I believe that it is on the positive side. So if you want to buy Bitcoin, I suggest you buy before the said date. It is expected that it will go down before we approach that day due to panic selling of some people. And after the activation, we will see Bitcoin's price will soar up again.

It will affect bitcoin price, but if the segwit is successful the price will go rising again but if it is forking then we will see a downfall, but I am more optimistic, I think bitcoin will succeed so I will suggest you to buy now and hold
