I'm very confused about the 'activity' system.
1. Can someone explain to me how this equation works?
     activity = min(time * 14, posts)

2. Does 1 post mean 1 activity as well?
    2-1. Does a comment/reply count as a post?

3. Can you speed up your 'ranking process' by being more active?

These are few of my questions for now. I'm planning on getting my rank up first before applying for any signature campaigns(obviously no one would accept me now). So i would like to know these things first so i don't waste time with the sole purpose of ranking up. I hope someone will answer this. Thanks.

I'm very confused about the 'activity' system.
1. Can someone explain to me how this equation works?
     activity = min(time * 14, posts)
This is a one good example on how that equation works.
Let says you register last month and lets says you been here 4 weeks since your registration and your post count is 50
Time is calculated on this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
So the time with that equation (activity = min(time * 14, posts)) will be 2

Lets calculate it :
activity = min(time * 14, posts)
activity = min(2* 14, 50)
activity = min(28 , 50) "and the minimum of that is 28 so
activity = ≤ 28

Hope you understand  Cheesy

2. Does 1 post mean 1 activity as well?
Nope
2-1. Does a comment/reply count as a post?
Yes
(Clarification : Reply to a private message is not be counted as post)
3. Can you speed up your 'ranking process' by being more active?
Nope you cant speed up the ranking process by being active but its better to be became more active to get activities on every activity update

Hope that helps   Grin

You can only have 14 activity every 2weeks so even you make more post a day this  will not affect  your activity. Patience is needed if you want to rank up because it need more time and patience.

I also have questions Huh

I've been trying to find info concerning the limitations for posting for different ranks and I only found info about signatures.
Do I get it right, that to start a new topic you can be a complete newbie but to add pictures to the topic, you need to be a Jr Member?
And the min time to get from one to another is a month, right? Shocked

Unfortunately, I haven't been paying much attention to what my account could do before I got to junior. Tongue I just posted replies in various topics.

Everything can be found in the same thread by theymos. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0

To insert pictures: Jr. Member and above.

Limits on posting

Code:
waittime = 360;
if(activity >= 15)
        waittime = (int)(90 - activity);
if(activity >= 60)
        waittime=(int)(34.7586 - (0.0793103 * activity));
if(activity >= 100)
        waittime = max((int)(14-(activity/50)), 4);

Limits on PMs
I've adjusted the limits to make spamming more difficult.

Activity   Min. seconds between post actions   Max PM recipients   PMs per hour

I'm still confused about the Time. Is there a minimum amount of time i need to spend here to reach maximum activity points?
Ex. activity = min(28, 28) (considering i post once a day).

Nope, there is no minimum amount of time to reach the maximum activity points. 1 post is counted per day no matter how many times you post or how much time you spent on bitcointalk and would reflect every 14 days.

If your account is brand new you can't surge up the ranks by posting a whole lot.

It's actually quite a clever system now I've looked at it closer - if you are ranked low due to not saying much, but have said it over several years, you have the capability to achieve a decent rank quite quickly if you start talking a lot.

Yeah, you should say something at least once every two weeks, if you have the intention of eventually ranking up.
