Sure, you're restricted to the stores Gyft supports, but chances are there would be a Burger King around somewhere if you're starving. This, added to the Bitcoin Conference on the 17th and China getting into Bitcoin, all I can say is I can't wait until next week.

just downloaded the app on android - for some reason it only seems like you can add cards purchased from the store. where do you buy in the app?
BTW: why is this in speculation?

There's already a thread in Press, I was curious how people thought this could affect the price. Also, downloading app now, but in the Updates it says: 1.4

To purchase:
at the top of the app do you see the arrow button? click it and go to the third tab and search for your username you created the gyft account with.
then a screen will appear with available giftcards - select the one you want and its pretty self explanatory from there.

The way the app works has a pretty poor flow. You've got to buy a card and send it to yourself before you can use it. The start of the process is buried and non-intuitive (thanks for the tip chsados).
That said, this is still great news!!

Wow...this actually is a pretty big deal. Being able to pay with bitcoins at major retailers.
Of the trifecta:
Able to buy anything online: Check (bitspend)
Able to buy anything at stores: Partial (Gyft)
Able to pay bills with bitcoin: Not yet (bitcoinbillpay currently working on it)
Not too shabby.
