I think the main thing that makes me own bitcoin is the future expectation to get rich, we all know that when bitcoin prices reach more than $ 1000 then many new rich people, they tell a lot in various media, now the price has reached $ 2500 and it's time to see 5 more years The price will reach $ 15,000.

I do expect a lot in the future to bitcoin. Because I started to use bitcoin when the price is lower than $500 and now it has increased 400% and even 500% last time. I think the good reason to own some bitcoin is you are financially secured. When you ran out of fiat, you can just simply get out and convert to cash your bitcoin.

Yes. The price really exponentially grow in the last couple of years. So its really nice to own at least 1 full BTC in your wallet. Its has really a lot of advantage like you mentioned and I think more people are going also using it that way. Maybe down the line bitcoin price can double and even triple so you get a good ROI. And the more people are demanding bitcoin, the more the price could really soar high in the future. So I will continue to get and accumulate more bitcoins.

Well, that's true.  Nonetheless, those who travel more than just a little might be smart to have some BTC available (via online wallet or even a hardware device) as a "Plan C" to get some local fiat just in case.

That was the real point of my thread here.  Having some BTC available might (might!) solve a problem in certain circumstances.

You would need to find someone there on that country buying Bitcoins and giving fiat instantly on your hands.

Only good if there were a trusted exchange house, something like this offering this service, because it's too dangerous to trust a stranger to do this transaction, you can give your Bitcoins and he won't give you any $$ back.

in that case you can use paxful or localbtc to buy a western union transfert where ever you are with your bitcoin

I don't know about that, bitcoin has still some weaknesses if it will be an official currency used by many people and countries. I think it will be taking a lot of years and a lot of minds to join before the bitcoin become a currency that is common in a certain country. Also, with it's volatility, it is really good that we have some bitcoins so if the price pumps, we can have some profit or earnings from it.

Why do you need the legalization of bitcoin. Crypto currency was conceived as an alternative to the official Fiat money. Now it's easy to spend your coins and not have to pay taxes. What else do you need? Bitcoin belongs to the people and we should be all the same recognize his government or not.

This is another one good reason why bitcoin is popular among the unemployed people, it gave them a job which gave them also a good income. That's why a lot of people is using bitcoin as their pocket money everywhere they want to go but of course they have to change bitcoin into some fiat if that country doesn't accept bitcoins. It will be a little over a week until I can get to a city where BTC is traded (in the provinces on vacation now).  So, I'm OK if the price goes down until then.  And, were push to come to shove, I could SELL some BTC for FIATEuro, but it likely will not come to that.  And that's why I started this thread: to explore why having some BTC at hand while traveling is a good thing.
