Can you provide some information on how these .eth domains work? Are they like normal extensions (tld) which can be pointed to any server or works in a different way? Like normal domain extensions (tld) which is controlled by a registry and policed by the ICANN, does the .eth domain have any registry?
Hello, thanks for asking. These domains work in a very different way. They are registered and hosted on the Ethereum blockchain using smart contracts and are immune from the insecure features of DNS. ENS, the Ethereum Name Service, operates in a distributed fashion for both its infrastructure and governance: "This means that anyone can register a .eth domain name for themselves by participating in an auction process, mediated by the blockchain." More about this can be found here:
https://ens.domains/The actual domain registry where .eth domains are being auctioned and registered can be found here:
http://registrar.ens.domains/ To interact with it on the blockchain users need to install Meta Mask browser extension for Chrome or Thunderbird, or use a Mist or Parity browser.
These domains can be used on Swarm or IPFS (interplanetary file system), to host a truly distributed website. More info here on Swarm:
http://swarm-gateways.net/bzz:/theswarm.eth/The domains can be configured so that users can access your website both on and off the blockchain. For example, notice the Swarm url above, which works!
There is an emerging secondary market for these domains, which people are using to auction using escrow contracts, and through which I am auctioning these 15. These secondary auctions can be found here:

Thank you!
