Watch Out. I am almost exposed to web phishing that is in the name of mew. This is very unsettling. Users must be careful to save the original mew link.

My advice do not ever open your purse in laptop or computer where you work with many cheap coins, we do not know their application! Kind of spy or keyloger.
Nowadays many websites are giving a gift
But the fact that they install spy application on their website

people haven't learned not to store at online wallets yet???
Sometimes it's more convenient to use web wallets,  local wallets take up too much space in the disk , like btc and eth, each of then takes up 100G+ space .
If you have several coins  in the same time , disk space will be a problem.

I am sorry for your lost and thank you for sharing. Hope that everyone stay safe. I would like to share my experience. Just today, a scammer share a message in SOMN slack asking everyone in the channel to login to MEW with  a fake URL in order not to lost their coins. Please don't panic and remember not to login via URL shared in such channel.

People have been sending bots into various slacks which direct message people to check their coins on myetherwallet to avoid losing them while giving them a fake myetherwallet URL (typically instead of .com its something else). This takes the private key when you enter in your information. Don't fall for the scam and only use the proper MEW site.

This is not fault of myetherwallet but us. Like me, not think about the security, i used my own laptop, I think it is secure enough, in fact someone can steel my asset from remote area. Never download any wallets from untrusted new coins, that gives free coins or small tasks with big rewards. I think I wast trapped by the trick.

The thief got new victim, Read this thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1949338.new#new

Becareful with your wallet, never donwload wallet from one of cheap and free bounty in marketplace. I suspect one of the bounty bring malware.

I suggest back up your asset or sent to secure exchanger or turn to bitcoin and withdraw to your bank account before your loose all your digital asset.

I heard it too. Sad that qiwoman2 losing thousands of dollars. I think it was a phishing site or her unit infected with a malware. Even hard wallets can be stolen too. So only way is to use 2fa which is used on trading sites like poloniex and bittrex.
