I have as I remember 21,000 ripple from forum givaways,
I have been through the gatehub signup, but see no way to deposit my ripple there.
I could see my ripple balance using the old site ripple.com with just two keys, but not any longer...

Iif the shorter key starts with "s", then this is your private key. You can use it e.g. with
https://github.com/jatchili/minimalist-ripple-client to do basic transactions. The longer string is likely your encrypted blob from the blobstore, similar to a "wallet" that contains not only your private key but also e.g. the names you specified for some addresses, favourites etc. It can also be decrypted, but this might be a bit more difficult.
