With regard to smartphone wallets, there are lots of high quality ones, however to begin you off some recommendations are Mycelium, Airbitz, Copay, or Blockchain dot info. For wallet applications, you can look at Electrum or Multibit. I'm really sorry if my information is wrong. Senior member can help.

There are various great wallets / transactions which you could store them such as Coinbase, Bitstamp, Blockchain.info, XAPO etc. All depends on your own demands.

A phone application is not much safer than an exchange/wallet.
I would rather use an offline wallet for example Armory or a paper wallet.

Bogus wallets began to show up in both the iTunes App Store as well as Google Play. Also, they are being promoted using Google Adwords, causing them to be show up genuine. These types of wallets and advertisements are taken out once they are reported but not before a large number of people have already saved them and wasted their bitcoin. You need to be careful.

If you use regularly, should use blockchain.info purse, security is very good.
If used infrequently, XAPO should be used  Roll Eyes

If you decide to use XAPO, I have some money (1 mBTC) in there that I want to get out, but I don't want to pay the fee.

I propose you send me the BTC, and then I'll transfer the money from my XAPO account to yours (you can open a XAPO account with zero balance).

I will be using freebitco.in to transfer the money (zero fees), so it might take some time.

For example, let's say you want to deposit 10 mBTC in XAPO. You send me the 10 mBTC to my freebitco.in wallet. I will send 9 mBTC to my XAPO account. Once completed, I will do a off-chain transfer of 10 mBTC from my XAPO account to yours. In the end, nobody will pay any fees.

I realize this is an unorthodox request. I just want to get my money out of XAPO, because I don't use it anymore, and the amount is too little to pay such large fees for. You'd really be helping me out. Thanks for reading.

If you're using a pc. I recommend using electrum. Easy to use. It even has a portable version of it. Portable, meaning. You can use that wallet wherever you go. Just put it in your portable drive.

Blockchain.info, Mycelium, Breadwallet, there's plenty.

Just head to https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet, try a few see which one works best for you.

thanks for this information sir. really appriciate it. as a newbie it is hard to know which is the best without a guidance.
