[SOLVED]HELP Asus Prime H270-plus M.2 to PCIE 7th gpu not detected

Hello , I'm having a problem that is simply my windows 10 x64 cannot detect my 7th gpu using an M.2 to PCIE adapter installed on either of 1st ot 2nd M.2 ports.

My system:
windows 10 x64 UEFI mode
intel G3930
8 gb ram ddr 4
SSD 120 gb
1200 W corsair AX

I've tried so far :

1. Currently without disabling integrated intel gpu , my windows shows 7 cards correctly - intel HD 510 , 4x GTX 1070 , 1x GTX 1080 , 1x GTX 1080 ti.  I tried disabling from bios intel card , but only 6 cards show up now.  
2. Tried enabling M2 slots to work as PCIE in bios
3. Switched numerous times between both M2 slots to ensure I dont miss anything.
4. All speeds are set to GEN1 in bios considering PCIE
5. Switched few cards to ensure a 100% working card is trying to be put into the M2 to PCIE 2 adapter. Even switched off 1 extra card so that they are 5 and tried again with the M2 slot but in vain.

6. Only thing left is maybe getting another M2 to PCIE card if this is corrupted.

I will give small donation worth of ETH (0.05) if someone helps me to solve the problem and gives a reasonable advaice , and yes it's possible to run 8 gpu on this motherboard since I saw a youtube video of a guy using the same motherboard + win 10 + 2x M.2 keys Just like mine and showed device manager with 8 cards.

Hey,

Had a similar issue...

Try this...plug in just the m.2 and video card ...no other cards...boot...see if it sees it...

if it does add your other cards...

I had to do this to get mine to be seen.

didnt work , guess the m2 to pcie card is dead . i will order another one and check again. i dont have any more ideas...

How many psu in your system ?

only 1 - corsair AX series 1200 W , though there is plenty of power for the 7th gpus + motherboard . I checked them via Watt meter , without the 7th card it's drawing arround 750-800 under mining load (full load with the 1080 TI ) , so another 110-120 W should be easily doable.

Hey not sure how to help in your post but I wanted to see the replies because I have a biostar tb-350 for 6 gpu's and is only detecting 5, wondering if you got any help.

By the way, DOA means dead on arrival.

Hope you are doing fine. So I had this same issue. I did all the test you mentioned in your post, and nothing worked. I assume the m.2 were dead on arrival, so decided to buy 2 more, still same issue. My next test was to plug the m.2 into another MOBO, nothing worked. I tested in the following build:

All the test were run with multiple GPU and with 1 GPU only, still m.2 didn’t worked.
So I continue my research online, all I can get from forums and people from youtube is “Oh you just have to move the adapter around until your system recognizes the adapter” others said “whatever problem you may have with this adapter is related to the molex to fan pwr cord”. So I when ahead started conducting test again this time with a direct cord from the psu to the M.2 adapter. Still nothing, at this point I stopped trying, after a few days I decided to give another try and started a researching once again. This time I stumbled with a Video in youtube of a person explaining the issue with the m.2, so apparently the pins of the m.2 don’t a line very well with every motherboard. Apparently production quality is not very concise. You either need to wiggle it around, or fix it as the person in the video did

just Be careful with this adapter because I’ve seen people on amazon who had issues were the adapter that  damaged their GPU.

As a solution I bought the PCIE expansion to 3 PCIE slot and forgot about the m.2 adapter.

Sorry for bumping this slightly older thread but Im in the same spot as the OP.
I'm looking to add a 7th or 8th cardon this specific motherboard.

Can you please recommend which route to take m.2 or use a pcie-expansion card that multiplies the x16 pcie slots into 3 or 4.

I have the Asus  prime z270-p mobo, in windows 10 pro x64. I also installed the 7-th gtx card on M.2 port, and windows can't detect it. Riser is working fine, the adapter must work, bcause it's just wiring, not any capacitors, chips etc, the system/ windows/ mobo is the problem.
How did you managed to get it working? I have all pcie settings on auto, only above 4g decoding enabled.
Monitor on mopo port.

I have Asus STRIX H270F i also had 8 cards mining for 6 weeks when nicehash updated to 2.0.2.2 or when windows updated end of May 2018. i cant get m.2 slots to mine. they are recognized but instantly stops mining on nicehash and others.
2200w = 1200w x1 & 1000w x1
8 1080ti
i have not changed the bios to the above mentioned. i will check and update.
