These are the kinds of incidents that will lead to the fall of cryptocurrencies. These hackers are greedy, sure, but they don't realize that their actions are going to hurt them in the long run, as well, when all of this comes to a crashing halt

Come on man, every human being is this way. (there's a name for it) In the short run, they profit, in the long run, everybody loses. But if they don't profit now, others will take the quick buck and the original ones lose more.

It's how the world works.

I was about to set up the multi wallet to store all my various coins.
glad I only had about $20 worth of each type of coin, that adds up though.

Damn, I just hope this doesn't hit them too hard. I like Vircurex's wide support for altcoins.

I'm safe since I don't store anything on exchanges.

+2. I thought I was in this position once and the feeling was sickening (turned out btc-e.com was just down for 12 hours). Ever since then, I instantly take coins off an exchange after a transaction.

I checked mine and there are also fine... nothing came out. at least on btc and ltc... don't know about TRC, i didn't save it, I keep just a few of them in there... there's was a huge seller of TRC on BTC-E today, it might have been someone who was able to stole it from vircurex... came with at least 2 batches of TRC, first to sell at 0035. second at 3300 way below the market... about 250 BTC equivalent each.

Yeah its what happened to fiat pounds when that Great Train Robbery happened, thats why everyone switched to dollars. Until that big robbery where lots of dollars got stolen, so no one uses them anymore. So everyone switched to cryptocurrencies and damn robberies still happen, darn it.

Well there is the reason for the massive Altcoin pressure last 2 days. Prob hackers dumping all the coin they can for BTC to 'wash' the wallet addresses.

My account was protected by Yubikey, will that make a difference?

Only if they used proper encryption. No encryption and they own all your coins!

DAMN IT MY DVC!! WTH!!

Devcoin is now officially dead. This hack killed the currency before it could crawl.  Either we lost all our devcoins or we will sell them all immediately. I know the first thing I'm going to do if I can access my Devcoins is sell them and I'm prett sure everyone else is thinking the same after seeing this news.

I had over 100,000 Devcoins too.

i have a lil over 1M in there..smh! it better be all in there.

Per all the news coming out - minimal wallets were accessed and the site will make good on any loses.  So, what makes you believe otherwise?

I'm a big fan of vircurex. I will be very disappointed if my crypto is lost, but will still use vc as long as they are able to solve the issues and learn from this experience.
