Green or red does not mean you will have profits if you do not buy at the price lower than the sell price. Example coinmarketcap, it shows some altcoins have green candle in 24 hours, but if I calculate to my portfolio, I am lossing my capital.

If i were to give my self advice 6 months ago, Its that you need to be patient and not watch daily or even weekly price fluctuations. This could have made me an incredible amount of money had i just been a little more patient. So yes. Always buy and stop selling.
