Hi everyone!
I am just creating this thread to start a discussion on how blockchain technology can help both video game publishers and video gamers.
If we look at what the upcoming NEM-powered video game distribution/exchange platform called “Xarcade” that I am involved with, one very cool thing that we are doing is breaking free the numerous in-game currencies in games all over the world by putting them onto an exchange.
I have already shared some of the macro information on what benefits Xarcade brings on past posts, but let me relay to you how our NEM powered platform can truly "globalize" the in-game currencies of a mobile video game.
I will give you one example...
Let's say there is a mobile game that has rubies for its currency. Through the game being published on Xarcade, those rubies can then be exchanged for XAR.
Before a game is published onto Xarcade, the game publisher sends to Xarcade a “currency pegging request” for approval, i.e. 50 rubies = 2 XAR.
Xarcade approves this pegging.
A gamer playing the game for a long time accumulates 100 rubies and exchanges it for 4 XAR.
This XAR can now be exchanged for Bitcoin/XEM on the open exchanges.
So, what Xarcade is doing is creating a new and exciting use for those currencies inside games, which are usually landlocked and unable to be used in other games or have real world use
Please relay to me how you feel about the advantages blockchain technology can bring to video game industry.
