 I've also been thinking if there is anyone willing to be non-anonymous we could maybe set up a time and place in the dallas area to exchange cash and items for bitcoins.  A starbucks or a bar with wifi would be ideal since everyone could have a laptop to carry out the bitcoin exchanges.

That was just a public key for anyone who wanted to encrypt something for me.  And on the porn subject, I didn't complain about that, nor would I.  I'm offering a gun and some ammo for sale for bitcoin because I have them and have been thinking about selling them for a while.  It's completely legal as long as it's in state, I'd need to make the exchange in person, it's kind of a long shot but I figured someone might contact me and live in my area.  I agree that the porn/violence thing is weird in the US but well.. it's the US.. what can I say, life perplexes me here but that's why we have things like pgp and bitcoin.

no worries, thanks for the info about agorism, I realized I didn't fully understand it and read the wikipedia article.  The left/right thing is weird though cuz I would consider radical free market anarchism inherently right wing, but I guess it's just a matter of definitions.

Yep, don't take my comment as anything personal or judgmental. I don't like guns, I like porn, thus I do have a bias, but I didn't mean to imply everyone should think like me, oh no! That would make sarcasm so very difficult

Being "legal" is exactly what I'm crying wolf about. Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's correct, and the opposite also holds true, but I like to think we are more or less free, and freedom implies we don't need to be correct, we are not required to anything. Society will then, as a whole, mandate the price we pay for the way we act and we decide if it's worth it or not.

But I digress, good luck with your sale, we should be using bitcoins for *everything*.

Firearms can destroy the body, porn can destroy the soul.  
Firearms can keep government in check.  Porn can keep the populace subdued and compliant.

I don't like guns, shooting is not my thing. I never said it was wrong to own guns. The way they are usually used, well, I can object to that, but you are free to own a nuclear warhead for all I care.

The problem I usually have on this subject is not related to guns, but to double standards... There aren't many things as healthy and enjoyable as sex, yet we talk about pornography and suddenly there are lost souls everywhere; We must stop this devilish thing called sex! It is killing society. Oh, and if you can enforce that using guns? win-win!

I'm sure lots of people on here don't like the Tea Party, but the Tea Party movement is an outworking of the uniqueness of America.  Yes, the USA has some big problems and is headed in a fascist direction.  But where else in the world do you get thousands of people protesting for government to stop giving them freebies?  Where else do people demand their government spend less?

Porn, guns, Tea Party, freedom, self-reliance, state paternalism.  These things are all tied together.


Anyway, get back to work.

Completely agree! Notice how I never mentioned any alternative? The thing with the "American Way" is that it is advertised as better than any other, and force fed onto those who are not Americans or are not in agreement with it. breandan81, yes there is a sale on bitcoin at MTGox.  That might be an early Christmas present.  However if I buy some it is sure to go down some more.

For the record I'm pretty much pro-porn and pro-gun.   Though I understand why some people have issues with either one of those, I figure those are their issues and I don't want the government involved.  I'm sure we can all think of relevant quotes from the likes of Franklin and Washington.  Hell, I don't use any illegal drugs but I'd be for decriminalizing them, setting up some legal way to have prostitution outside of nevada, all kinds of things that are "bad".  I don't see how throwing people in cages when they offend ones morals helps any. mtgox: yeah, it's not the first time, it happens every time someone buys or sells a lot, the market is still very small.

pro-stuff: that is the trick, I guess. I don't want to be taken as against anything. I don't own a gun, and I don't own any pornography (believe it or not ). I wasn't trying to say do one and not the other, but rather that we shouldn't try to police this things, when the very nature of bitcoins is to avoid that very control.

But I see what I did wrong... I was looking so hard for an excuse to stop working that I posted on the wrong topic... I should have started this on the one where porn was bashed, not here.
