The Block Erupter USB series is the second major product of Bitfountain. Each one mines at more than 300MH/s, powered only by the USB port. See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195004.0 for more details.

Hashrate: >300MH/s
Power Consumption: USB Power 500mA (2.5W)
Cost Price: 1.99BTC each (min. 300 units, or 597BTC)

Your best bet to get your hands on these USB Miners early is to join a group buy. Check out the Custom hardware forum (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=76.0) to join group buys to purchase units. You should always read all the terms of the group buy before committing to an order and always insists on escrow.

Happy mining,
QG

The way I read their blurb, is that these are ASIC chips, but not Avalon?

Not from Avalon. From ASICMINER https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=99497.0

Hi sexcoyote

The manufacture is selling these single chip (I think) ASIC USB miners in minimum orders of 300. This thread is an attempt to put together a buying group to get to the magic 300. QG has set a minimum order size of 4 to keep the shipping & handling per miner down.

Yea might as well buy a half-descent GPU as at least you could use it for gaming or resell to gain some bucks back.
When ASIC's finally arrives i don't see why anyone would buy a USB miner except for maybe novelty purposes.

One Avalon chip costs 0.078 BTC. This device costs 2 BTC while having similar performance. Is the heatsink made of gold?

There are a lot of ways to introduce bitcoin mining to others. Spending 2 BTC for one is kinda overpriced.

When do you think it's possible to deploy an ASIC? The USB Miner can be in your hands and running in less then 30days @ 2.5W.

No reason to buy this. It only costs $100 less than a 7950, does 300 less mh/s, and has little to no resale value.

My name was simply a play on "Blue Engineer" from Team Fortress. I am not affiliated with Microsoft or the Azure project.
