I'm buying some for family scattered about the country. Seems like a nice gift that keeps giving. Pricey? yes, and worth every btc.

There are group buys pooling resources... and here's one

I'm curious as to why anyone would like to mine with a large set of these USB farmers when they could simply throw their money for the full blade version for much better performance. These little things are cute and all but as many said, they aren't worth their price to performance... other than for novelty purposes I suppose

The good thing about this is it is ready to ship. but I don't know about how long we can use it before it becomes obsolete.

Yes, at the BFL prices, these are not worth them.  But is BFL shipping?  That is the question, my friend.

1.99 BTC ?!!!!!
This is not worth more than 0.15 btc

BitForce 5 GH/s SC  = $274
Block Erupter 300MH/ = $213

It's arguable if these are worth the asking price, but they have the very great advantage of being available right now, as opposed to in a month or two. The only reason that ASICMINER can charge such a high premium for the Block Eruptor products (the blades were priced at 50BTC per unit, which amounts to a hashing power / BTC value of roughly 400MHs for 2BTC. That sale was massively oversubscribed) is because they have no effective competition at this point in time. If Avalon ships on time we will start to see competition late July / early August at which point I suspect we will see a version 2 with similar price point but 2 - 4 times the hashing power in a similar package from AM.

I think those USB miners are a nice option to mine from 'on the move' in office on your laptop e.g.
Probably nobody would buy a 32 port USB hub for 10Ghash rig...instead this cumbersome rig you would by an erupter blade Wink

Yeah I would rather spend 100$ on another GPU. If these were like 20$ maybe.

I will agree with others in that the price seems a bit steep for this device. With that said, I think it would be interesting to try these little guys out. With hot weather rapidly approaching here, I wonder how much heat these little guys put off compared to GPUs?

overpriced... also the amount of USB ports to achieve a hash rate of a new asic miner, like burnin will produce, is very high
