does this effectively mean ETH at $1000?
Bitcoin addresses contain a checksum, so it is very unlikely that mistyping an address will cause you to lose money.

No. Have you missed the briefing? If BTC splits, we're all moving money to DOGE coin.
Now lock the thread.

Grin Grin Grin what a proper way to give the OP a response. Best response ever! Looks like the dude just wanted to drop something on the forum for dropping sake.

I really think ETH is going to $1000 and Bitcoin is going to $10000 after things have settled this summer...

No, it shouldn't mean ETH at $1000 because there is simply no reason for it to be that high. As a development token I am surprised that it has even hit the price it has, hovering in the mid $200s, and aside from that I can't see the uses of ETH beyond smart contracts and other development uses. But that's none of my business as to why a market pushes a token so high.

As for Bitcoin hitting $10,000 this summer, that's doubtful beyond imagination. Maybe, at the very best, assuming there is a ton of new money flowing in, it may break $5,000 but even that is a pipe dream. You could maybe see $3,000 being broken realistically, but beyond that you're starting to stray into territory of idealism and not reality. Of course, I could be very wrong about that.

First, ethereum can't be $1000 forever and bitcoin won't undergo a hard fork. So your theory is not valid anymore here. We will observe only a soft split.

Have you been paying attention to happenings in the community over the past six months (to a year) or did you just get here? The latter is forgivable but if you've been here a long time you should know why there is a fork in the works.

Basically there is a "split" or a fork in the network coming to fix some user-created issues with the blockchain, being transaction queues piling up and fees becoming huge as a result of more transactions taking up less space. The fork will give blocks more space to include more transactions and bring down fees, and that's the meat of it iirc.

No, because even creator Vitalik of ETH doesn't know what it is good for. Why do we need it?
We don't, bitcoin is far more secure and reliable.

Why is people still hyping ETH, it has already seen better days, but won't be able to duplicate that again. Remember it reached ATH around May and seeing that they will take over the crypto and replaced bitcoin? It didn't happened, the flippening that they are trying to picture didn't push through. So all the talks of ETH going to 1000$ wll not going to happen. There's no more hype in this coin. Simply a pump and dump coin for all we know.

It doesnt mean that ETH will go $1000 when bitcoin split. And besides if the segwit activates there is no splitting from what i heard.
