1. A brand new laptop for what? using the Trezor? that won't be necessary as you will be asked to confirm sending funds from the device itself so even If someone could have access to your computer, he won't be able to use your Trezor funds even If it's connected to the PC.
2. If it's not a public wifi then I don't see on why you shouldn't unless you have a reason to believe that you are targeted.
3-4. How long really depends on your PC hardware and internet connecetion but since your PC is old, I believe It's not going to be fast. So I suggest exporting the private keys from Bitcoin Core, importing them to Electrum (do that while being offline) then turn on your connection and send them to Trezor address.
5. Whatever fits you really, Trezor already have a Chrome extension.
6. Don't be paranoid, as long as you are not downloading random files from the internet, you have nothing to worry about.
