Jorge Dommar, a candidate to the Constitutional General Assembly in Venezuela, recently published a video in which he calls for cryptocurrency adoption, and claims that it will help the country, by facilitating access to global markets, and putting Venezuela in the forefront of a new global financial system.

The candidate, who clearly stands for widespread cryptocurrency adoption in the country, has also campaigned for a system in which the people depend less on the government, and use cryptocurrencies for international trade.

Jorge Dommar is the first politician to propose the use of this type of technology to cope with the restrictions the government has imposed. Constitutional Assembly elections are scheduled for July 30.

Venezuela is always on the news because despite the government not recognizing Bitcoin it is actually condoned by the authorities and I am hoping that Venezuela can be the first troubled country to accept Bitcoin. Expect more and more news to carry Bitcoin especially after the August 1 deadline.

I hope he really understand how bitcoin or crypto in general works and not supporting it because bitcoin is generating a lot of buzz globally specially in Venezuela where citizens turn to bitcoin to buy goods outside of the country. If he is, then he gets my vote.  Smiley Seriously, I hope that Venezuela can overcome the economic crisis they are facing and I also hope that bitcoin will be recognized there as a lot of bitcoin enthusiast in that country.

In countries with huge financial stability, a lot of people already find refuge in Bitcoin. Venezuela is no different. If Bitcoin is indeed legalized, it would only recognize the current situation prevailing on the ground.

Bitcoin there should be legalized there. Their currency is failing that's why people are finding ways to avoid losses and gain profit. Im not saying that it's the solution for their economic crisis. But they must give it a try since many countries actually embraced cryptocurrencies.

Well, he is a politician so maybe he is really connected with the people and what is happening on the ground or he is just trying to look good in the eyes of the voters. Nevertheless, I am hoping that he won and he would fulfill his promise to make Bitcoin a recognized currency in Venezuela. I understand that Bitcoin is of big help to many families in the country as it is suffering from hyperinflation.

Well if they make it happen that has my support, if I recall correctly they did make a Bitcoin exchange over there with government approval but I haven't looked into what happened afterwards and what the net result of that was.
