eah already are doing isn’t? I think they can very much co-exist and not just these too. I completely believe that down the line in next 3-4 years, I will be 10-15 Crypto Currencies that will be fighting for the top spot, so they all will co-exist and there is no reason why they can’t. The market is so big that it’s easy.

The real question should be, can altcoins co exist with bitcoin because bitcoin will be always here. Bitcoin has better support, a bigger community and a very active one. Altcoins including Ethereum are usually pump and dump coins, sure someone can make money with them by buying low and selling high because those have even higher volatility than bitcoin, but that's it, they are not as mainstream as bitcoin so their long life existence is not guaranteed compared to bitcoin.
Alts will keep on existing, while bitcoin is great we cannot expect that every single characteristic to be added to bitcoin, there are some good projects that deserve to exists, Monero is one of them it adds better anonymity than anything bitcoin has at the moment, some assets distributed by decentralized exchanges are good too, Litecoin is a spare in the case bitcoin died, even if Ethereum is criticized in the forum the idea behind it is good.

Different coins can be utilized for different tasks some are more focused towards one type of objective over another, the market can absorb more than one crypto without any issues so I see no problem with it.

Well aren't they existing already? And they will keep doing so for quite a long time I think. Ethererum is one of the top alts, and I feel there will definitely be room for 10-20 crypto currencies that have the best features to co-exist, so unless its a shit coin and has no reason to exist, any altcoin can co-exist with bitcoin.

Bitcoin will retain its leading position in technology blockchain, ETH technology leader in smart contract. Most of the development projects based on smart contract of ETH and both will have steps to separate, this shows the both can coexist and thrive.

The market is so big that it’s easy.

it has been 8+ years and there have been hundreds of altcoins fighting pretending to be able to compete with the first spot. in the future this will only change if NEW altcoins are created with some utility and usefulness as a currency in mind not with "how to pump and dump more" in mind and as their main goal.

so far ethereum has been the pump and dump to make more money. and it is not a currency. it is a platform for smart contracts which in reality is used to create ICO scams! so it is more like a double fail for it.

besides if you want to compare you should compare things in their own category. bitcoin is a currency. ethereum is a platform for smart contracts with token called ether which is not even supposed to be used as a currency. if you want to compare then do it with other smart contract platforms. there are a lot of them and many do it so much better and easier than ether.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Currently btc judgment has not come to an end. There are still too many things to calculate. Investors are now safeguarding their money. When there is no specific or clear information about the upcoming btc process, eth ltc dash or some new altcoin will place the option to avoid storms. I think eth will be better. Its community and roadmap seem more potential

why do not it can be just bitcoin, ??

You're right, bitcoin probably will always be the biggest crypto coin, but ethereum has different goals and goals. They can coexist but there is a good faction among communities

The bigger question is, Can Ethereum survive long enough to be able to be in the same class as Bitcoin. A lot of people have their doubts that a

coin that are built on pre-mine/pre-sale tokens and no supply cap, can be anything other than a ScamCoin. Some people also think it is a security

fraud waiting to happen. Time will tell, if they were wrong.  Wink

it's hard to even say ETH is "competing" with bitcoin on equal footing, it would be the same as saying USA and a developing country are in the same conditions and economical condition, which is false.
ETH is growing, I can't deny that, but I don't think it's even close to even over-taking bitcoin, it's still impacted like this with bitcoin SegWit, I think this shows how much it is just an off-shoot of bitcoin, and still completely dependent on bitcoin price.

Of course, they can completely coexist, so many people are confused, bitcoin and ethereum are not opposites, they are created with different missions, in part, they support each other, because So, they may exist.

They pretty much co-existing right now. Bitcoin's goal and Ethereum's goal also differ so I can see that none if them will be eliminated. One thing for sure is that they will still be fighting over which of them will be on the top for the succeeding years that will come.

And what you mean when you say co-exist? Both are cryptocurrencies mostly have different visions and utility. Ethereum is currently more famous as token issuing currency while Bitcoin is more famous as real utility currency. Thus both are famous as they catering the needs of users atm but whenever anyone of them seems barren, other one will surely take over completely, till then keep investing and hodling both  Cheesy

I think Bitcoin has a bright and promising future and can be the digital coin of choice adopted everywhere, especially because it was the first and it is very solid.

But I am more of an Ethereum person. I think both will coexist because Ethereum is not a digital coin, is a platform that introduced smart contracts to the Blockchain. There is no actually competition, and some of other alt coins (especially ERC20 tokens built on Ethereum) are more like companies stocks than coins. When Ethereum solves scalability and other current issues and when actual applications (such as Golem's supercomputer or BAT's advertisement platform) see the light of day, we will see the Ethereum network being used everywhere, descentralizing essentially everything.

Is there any plan/intention of Bitcoin ever supporting smart contracts?

Ethereum is a promising coin, but I still would see bitcoin staying at the top currently, however everyone will co-exist regardless of the top coin or not, altcoins existed for years now from Litecoins, And that didn't mean bitcoin wouldn't exist in the same time.

Of course they are already coexisting and will continue.

What is this "one coin to rule them all" mentality. This is not Game of Thrones.

They have very different different purpose. ETH and its smart contracts is only going to grow in popularity, recent price drop is very normal if you have witnessed BTC from the beginning. If you treat ETH as a currency, you are making a big mistake. It's value is in creating platforms that can decentralize markets where monopolies rule. Actually I believe they compliment each other pretty well.

And ETH doesn't not view and has never viewed itself as a competitor to bitcoin.

Here's a small part from the Ethereum official page. Its sums it up pretty well.

"Ethereum would never be possible without bitcoin—both the technology and the currency—and we see ourselves not as a competing currency but as complementary within the digital ecosystem. Ether is to be treated as "crypto-fuel", a token whose purpose is to pay for computation, and is not intended to be used as or considered a currency, asset, share or anything else."

Peace Wink
