early adopters/people on forums will always use btc, but when it will go main stream and will be traded on wall street it will be XBT


Example:

Bloomberg: XBTFUND
CUSIP: 09173T108
ISIN: US09173T1088
Ticker: N/A

Conclusion?

- BTC = anarchists name
- XBT = ISO standart

That is a pretty big assumption. Many sites like xe.com also seem to have preference for it (http://www.xe.com/currency/xbt-bitcoin) but even so BTC seems to be the status quo at least here...
