Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Hello,

Yesterday, price of BTC and ETH went up.
Do you think it will go down before the split, or does it mean the update will go fine ?

That is possible if a chain splitting happens

Hello,

or does it mean the update will go fine ?
Im think why Bitcoin price goes up now because about 72% of miners supported the BIP91 and it needs roughly 80% support before August 1 to be implemented.
Hope this soft fork will succeed Grin

i dont see a point of hard fork, i was mining ethereum hard forked and i ended up with some etc as well as eth. i sat on that stuff forever and it hasnt been worth much. why have two coins if we all know one will fail. i say just stay will the original.

Because the comunity can split between two different ideas and do not reach an agreement that suits both of them.

The same is happening with Bitcoin. Some people just want bigger blocks, and others don't. This ends up dividing Bitcoin into two currencies with different implementations. One of them implementing the idea of the first group, and the other implementing the idea of the second group.

The results are uncertain. But we are possibly see split bitcoin. Maybe 2 or more split coins. But of course only one coin will on top and will be the king of cryptos. But there's a possibilty of community split. Look at ETC and ETH. This is the disadvantage of this forking. The diversified support from people. But it's hard to predict what's going to happen to bitcoin after that forking. But i still hold btc no matter what.

Some exchanges are already disabling Bitcoin withdraws because of BIP191.

Hurry up your learning and know things may get worse before August.
