i read somewhere in this forum "the molex powered riser cables are for using more than 5 cards in motherboards that don't have a molex near PCI-E ports"

Can anyone confirm that ?

You will still need powered x1 to x16 risers. I am building a unit with the same motherboad. It should be here tuesday. I plan on running 2 powered x1 to x16 risers and 2 x16 to x16 unpowered.

I think..and to be honest I am not positive..but when using the regular PCIe x16 slots from the motherboard you dont really need powered risers. Some boards without that extra 12v molex connection to the PCIe lanes I would consider using powered x16 cables. But on this ASRock unit I am going to try running as mentioned above.

YMMV
