There is no reason to post nonsense in the newbies board. In fact, this board has one of the highest amounts of traffic, both newb and non-newb. If you have something to discuss that is of value, the newbies board is as good as any.

My name was simply a play on "Blue Engineer" from Team Fortress. I am not affiliated with Microsoft or the Azure project.

As others have said, apparently new users need to spend some time familiarizing themselves with the forum.  I think getting to know the forum, not spam prevention, is the main reason why the newbie restrictions are in effect.

I think this rule is a good one because it forces users to familiarize themselves with the forum before they can post in other areas

If you have something decent that you want to post in another section of the forum, you can ask to be whitelisted.

I'm actually glad that this forum forces new users to start in the newbie forum.  I picked up on a lot of good information, including the recently posted guide for people new to BitCoin.

There's actually a lot of quality discussion going on here. No need to get your panties all in a bunch. I've been involved with Bitcoin for over 2.5 years now, and the Newbie forum still has a lot to teach. You just have to be willing to learn.

Can I be whitelisted? I want to post something in altcoins.

You could always talk about the future possibilities of alt currencies. Maybe discuss you experiences with bitcoin exchanges or mining pools.

Here's the link to the whitelist request thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=15911.0

Good luck!
