From reading threads in other parts of the forum, people are saying that before August 1 comes around, that you should withdraw your bitcoins from exchanges that are not SegWit ready and where you don't have control of the private key and put your bitcoins into wallets where you do possess the private key.

Does this advise also hodl true for gambling sites where your bitcoins are held in a wallet that you don't own/control the private key?

What happens to our bitcoins that are in an account on a gambling site that isn't SegWit ready and there is (or isn't) a hard fork after August 1st?

The gambling website will probably decide on which chain your coins will belong. At least they have the power to do so.
Crypto-games have outlined their plan in case of a fork: http://blog.crypto-games.net/2017/07/crypto-games-bip148uasf-contingency-plan.html

But that will most likely not be needed if BIP91 activates.

I will stop gambling with bitcoin until everything is clear.

If there is a chain split, the worst risk is to lose all the bitcoins you store in a place you can not control using your private key.

I am also very concern about this and i am so far very grateful that 2 out of my 3 gambling site that i frequent willing to allocate both the chain if there is a fork to occur. So now i am deciding whether to withdraw from the 3rd site temporarily or perm. I could just transfer the fund to the other 2 sites. See no pt to transfer back. And also there will be other possible fork in the future and i no need to keep worries if i just rely on these 2 sites.

Thanks for the replies so far guys.

I imagine that in general, people would want to be in control of their bitcoin when August 1st rolls around. But I also imagine that any reputable betcoin gambling site would want to do right by its customers/patrons in this situation coming up. It seems it is more a matter of how prepared each site will be to be able to handle the various possibilities that may occur after August 1st as regards to players bitcoins being held on the site.

I agree. We are talking big amount of bitcoin here so gambling site needs to be prepared as well, especially to cater to big whalers customers. Almost all exchanges has somewhat prepared by letting their customers know that they will not accept deposits or allow withdraw during the activation. But I don't know about the gambling sites. I will probably not deposit as well and wait till everything clears up.

It is in the interest of the exchanges to declare that they will honor the coins that their users are entitled with in case there is a hard fork after August 1. This will encourage the users to not withdraw their bitcoins and it shows that the owners of the exchanges care of what the market and the users think.

Gambling sites should do the same if they do not want to get their service disrupted.

yeah they should follow this in order to avoid gamblers to withdraw their funds inside their wallets, as mention above if exchange can deal and take care of this issue better also for the house to make necessary moves to take care of their players, its a win win situation still players will stay and the wallet will
be take care of the owners.

Theymos gave a suggestion that if you have some bitcoins in some exchanges or other sites whose PVT keys you dont control then it will be better to transfer them to the address which is under control as during the course of event things may get disruptive.
I dont know about the other gambling sites but i do received an email from crypto games and they send me this link:
Crypto-Games BIP148/UASF contingency plan

That is one of the btc casino investment i have and i am really happy that they have the customer service right. And i am very thankful for that because they have to close for a few days or maybe even longer just to make sure that everything is accounted for.

This is a very great idea that they will shut down for a day or weeks to be ready I'm sure after the segwit there will be several bugs and it need a trial and error for it, so that the customer will be satisfied and feel secure at their website.

It's true that gambling sites doesn't let you give access to the private keys of your wallet. I have the same plan as others moving out my balance temporarily and stop my gambling activity before August 1 because the sportsbook that I go to isn't segwit ready. They have no plans or anything related about it.

What happens to our bitcoins that are in an account on a gambling site that isn't SegWit ready and there is (or isn't) a hard fork after August 1st?
You could lose the other half of your coins (if there will be a split)which is not good if you have a huge amount sitting in a gambling site.

It's nice, and I think those who not sent mail they all have very good security for their wallets and there is no problem to save on their website. This is also possible right. Because I did not receive any mail regarding this issue from any site. But I kept some coins in local exchange they sent a message like withdraw my coin and do any transaction until next month 1st week.

They should do because that is a standard already, but I would not still gonna put my money in gambling sites during that event just to minimize the risk. I have to ensure I control the key and I think not gambling for at least a day is just fine with me just to ensure safety.
Hopefully there will be no problem this upcoming segwit and people will educate themselves so they will know what to do with their bitcoins to be safe.

Does this advise also hodl true for gambling sites where your bitcoins are held in a wallet that you don't own/control the private key?

What happens to our bitcoins that are in an account on a gambling site that isn't SegWit ready and there is a hard fork after August 1st?
The gambling website will probably decide on which chain your coins will belong. At least they have the power to do so.
Crypto-games have outlined their plan in case of a fork: http://blog.crypto-games.net/2017/07/crypto-games-bip148uasf-contingency-plan.html

But that will most likely not be needed if BIP91 activates.

I think most services, casinos included, will try to do the same - split coins and release both coins to their owners, because it calms their users so they don't massively withdraw before the fork day. And overall it's a good plus to their reputation, while keeping forked coins for themselves would be viewed as dishonest practice. I personally going to keep my investments in crypto-games and YOLOdice during August 1st, since both operators have promised to release forked coins to all BTC owners.

This is confusing time for bitcoin users and many bitcoin based sites are preparing to benefit from this situation.
No sites should decide which chain to accept before a clearer way is found. Either they should give a choice to users are ask them to withdraw their funds.

before segwit , in end july i want stop ga3mbling
play again and deposit again after segwit end
I have actually the same questions on my mind too regarding on this matter that how gambling sites would prepare on this upcoming segwit.Im glad that they are preparing already just been posted above by a user about plans of Cryptogames. Hope FJ would have the same preparations too not only to these sites but all gambling sites should really plan as well and as a player i would do the same thing too which i would pass on playing gambling on those days and wait for the hype to  be over.
