Hi

After reading of lots of thread regarding 1st Aug 2017 I still didn't understand anything. Because I am not a tech guy. I am an investor and Invested my money into bitcoin and stored on blockchain.info BTC wallet.

But what will happened on 1st Aug 2017 I don't know and may be some more users also don't know. Some user said that blockchain.info BTC wallet is also not safe. That's why I make a decision after reading this thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2012799.0

As admin - theymos recommend that storing my bitcoin to Electrum wallet is more safe then other place even I am not confirmed what will happened on 1st Aug 2017. So I downloaded the Electrum BTC wallet on my PC and create a Standard wallet and transfer my BTC from blockchain.info to Electrum Wallet.

Regarding creating Wallet what are the information I have to save or write down on my diary or somewhere else. Please guide me.

So my question is
Is it safe to create a Standard wallet or wallet with two factor authentication?
Is it possible to upgrade this wallet with two factor authentication?

If Bitcoin split then both type of Bitcoin shows on my Electrum wallet and I am able to spend both type of Bitcoin from my Electurm Wallet.

I have also installed Electrum Android version on my Mobile.

Make sure you back up your wallet regularly! Unlike a bank account, nobody can help you if you lose access to your BTC.

Your bitcoins are safe in Electrum wallet.

1. Write down the wallet seed in your diary or somewhere else. If you don't have the seed and you forget the password, you wouldn't be able to restore your wallet.

2. A wallet with two-factor authentication provides additional layer of security security over standard wallets.

3. I don't know if you can upgrade standard wallet to 2FA wallet.

4. Yes, in case of a split you would be able to spend both type of bitcoins, http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/hardfork.html

May I use my blockchain.info BTC address in Electrum. If yes then any body can guide me.

And suppose I transfer my BTC in Electrum and Electrum gets close then how can I recover my BTC while Electrum is down. Please guide me.

Yes, you can either import the addresses or just send coins from blockchain.info to your new electrum wallet.

And suppose I transfer my BTC in Electrum and Electrum gets close then how can I recover my BTC while Electrum is down. Please guide me.

Electrum won't get closed down, but if you write your wallet seed down or have a back up of your wallet.dat file or private keys then you can restore your coins at any time with another wallet.

https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/53822/how-to-recover-an-electrum-wallet-from-seed

Please do a bit of research on wallets and seeds etc so you know what you're doing any don't make any mistakes.

Thanks for sharing. I tried to understand the text of electrum. If I understood correctly, I somehow need to manually make sure, that I get two wallets, one for the core and one for the new one. But in general it is correctly understood, that the new altcoin will be able to be "recovered" through those instructions of electrum, correct? And I can do this after 1. of August. How long time do I have to create the second wallet for the new coin? Sry I am really a newbie and not a techi, so I really reach my limits to navigate through those instructions. Any advice appreciated.

In addition to what others said, I would also recommend physically backing your wallet up on an offline external drive.

You mean to say how you can keep a back up of your electrum wallet? Just make sure that you have saved the seed of your wallet at safe place as if there is any issue with your wallet that seed will help you in recovering your wallet back with your bitcoins intact in it.
