The whole BURST network is under critical attack. Allready forked into 8 different chains. The whole situation is one big mess... anyone up to date what's going on?

Then we might get 8 new BURSTs.  Tongue

With more BURST problems it seems SIA and Storj will be even more ahead on this data storing crypto field.

Why doesn't the price reflect that?

What's your source?

Many hdd miners stopped mining because of burst. They lost money.
Shit happens. I hope they can again get opportunity to start mining again.

How much money did hackers get?

According to the founder of Parity (client Ethereum) Gavin Wood in the official channel "critical" vulnerability in Parity led to the fact that at least three accounts were compromised by hackers, which led to theft in the equivalent of 31,725,019 US dollars.
At the time of publication of the article about 150 000 ETH were deduced from the purses. This data is also confirmed by the Etherscan service.

Why are there so many hacks nowadays? I remember a time when cryptocurrency was all about security... today its just a bunch of kids putting code together...

People can make new coins in a couple of hours. Some even make coins for other people for like 0.2 BTC. And then they create sites and stuff that are not secure. No wonder shit is hitting the fan.

You are completely off-topic pal... You are talking about Ethereum and the thread is about BURST, they have totally no ties and they are not at all related.

Can you provide sources?  Price isn't reflecting this at all.

If this is true, it really is too bad as siacoin and storj are neither good options to go for.  Seems all 3 have issues with the developers in one way or another.

They create super complex stuff all at once which screams to have many vulnerabilities instead of slowly and safely building stuff and testing properly.

Not your keys, not your coins!

Pff that is so bad I am scared that more coin chains will be after that under attack and that makes me even more scared to make long term trades I should make low term trades to not keep my coins too long and then when i hit profit change to btc should have better protection.

Makes me feel glad I didn't drop a few grand on Burst mining in April/May.

Either way, the vast increase in the amount of hacks largely means one thing for the cryptocurrency scene. Sure, it may be a potential threat, but first and foremost it means that cryptocurrencies are finally starting to be adopted into the mainstream.
This ultimately means that those coins with strong developers behind them are about to take off for moon and mars and beyond. I would suggest that those who do not earn enough to just drop upwards of 100k into cryptocurrencies start working overtime for the next few years so they can retire early or alternatively focus on running their own businesses and chasing their dreams.

Thanks for sharing the link. This is sad to hear - just a reminder of how quickly it can all change. Never invest more than you can afford to lose.
