Frankly I don't care about the reason,  and there usually isn't a good one anyway.   Wish I had bought more when we were at $1900, I'll say that though.  More people are buying than selling--that's always the best explanation for a huge rise.  Confidence is coming back, that's good enough.

The dump and the pump now seems to all be about segwit and usaf. Anyway bitcoin always seems to fix itself out of its problems and the long term trend is always clear, its an upwards one.

Do you have any evidence this is a pump? The price hovered around around the current price for weeks on end before the dip. Could this be an upward correction instead? You could be right, but nobody here can tell exactly what it is. There are too many players and factors in this game.

We could see fluctuations all the way up to Aug 1. Right now people are probably trying to get a good price for bitcoins so the price is rising. We'll probably see another drop before Aug 1 if there is a sell off.

i think that this explains the pump. expect a bit dump sometime soon so everything is back to normal.

Isn't it obvious? Where have you been for the last 3-4 months?

We are about to get segwit and this is the first time that we came so close. If we activate segwit, scaling debates will end for another 2-3 years. That's the reason.

At a minimum we *should* be OK until Nov/Dec when ChinaCoin/Ver/etc. might try to fork BTC again.  Still, I do not see their logic, they split BTC, everyone loses, everyone loses BIG, including them.

That also assumes SegWit implements OK and there a re no serious bugs.

Still, BTC just crossed $2500, up $150 since I woke up (visiting Europe).  Confidence is returning IMO.

Any idea why they might want to try fork BTC? Is it because SegWit is just a temporary solution rather than a permanent one to most of BTC major issues?

Anyway didn't BBC just featured BTC on their main page and that might be part of the reason of the pump?

Not just miners to support segwit2x we are also because this is huge role. In which bitcoin will be boost. Change the life of those people who are having bitcoins in there desktop wallets. Because it will go directly to $3000 after 1 August. So it is not just about miners support it is about those people support who completely know about bitcoin knowledge.

It’s really about all bitcoins’ supporters. The Segwit will work only when the majority is going to support no matter they are miners or just users. Bitcoins are obviously going to change the life of all who are having them in wallets. They have the real potential of making one rich within no time. I am sure prices will really touch 3k after Segwit.
