So here's the thing right for the most part cryptos are meant to be a form of independent digital currencies which can be used for ie; shopping, trading etc. [or..atleast i thought]
Being that so many of these cryptos main selling point usually revolves around 'anonymity', It absolutely baffles me that exchange platforms such as Bittrex will use it as a tactic to scam.

I'm well aware that an exchanges rules/regulations can differ depending on the location & jurisdiction they're under but what Bittrex is doing is simply a dishonest way to conduct business.

I just want to know whats going on, At the end of the day $100 is a penny compared to the amount of transaction fees they gain on the daily basis.
But how many people on the daily actually have their accounts locked for no other reason than making an deposit? I shouldn't have to hand over compromising information to have my money returned to me.

If that isn't clearly a scam, What is?
However when all i'm trying to do is purchase cryptos or at the very least withdraw my deposit; seems shady that they would request so much.

That's weird.  I've been using Bittrex quite a lot recently with an unverified account, and I've had about $2500 in there before without being asked for any more information.

The only limit on unverified accounts which I noticed was the limit of withdrawing a max of 1 BTC per day when unverified.

If they changed their policy recently, then it certainly is annoying that they wouldn't notify users about this.
If that isn't clearly a scam, What is?
A scam would be if Bittrex actually blocked your account indefinitely without an explanation or ran off with your funds.  At this point I'd just call it a "shady practice" rather than a "scam".

Because this is more about shady practices than direct scams, I feel that this would fit better in the Exchanges section or perhaps Service Discussion.

Can you post some pictures of your messages with Bittrex support?

I have deposited multiple times on Bittrex without getting my account locked. I think they are a solid exchange and won't participate in any funny business without reason. Maybe your account raised some red flags or something.

By the way the basic verification is not so painful. It's information about you which is publicly available anyway. You could fill this in and see how it goes.

And exchanges by presumption are not anonymous. What else do you expect?

I did use Bittrex for long time now never had problem with them I withdrawn > 1BTC without any problem . By the way you can do basic verification without any problem it is super easy and just involve phone number if I remember correctly I got my account verified in no time  . So it really will not hurt you to do so .

Did you access bittrex through a VPN or a regular internet connection? If you used a VPN bittrex most likely detected it and wants proof of who you are because it can't do business with certain countries blacklisted by the US government.

I have heard others that have complained about the same thing, basically bittrex locking their account and demanding your personal information(drivers licence, passport, proof of residency the whole bundle) before you can unlock your account.

OP, this is exactly why you shouldn't just trust any exchange with your money. Not even the most trusted of them. They definitely need to make the warning more clear and visible for the user before they deposit because otherwise you can always claim that

Now though, the only way to get your money back is by verifying your account.

P.S. I have had like $1500 in my bittrex last year and they never asked me for anything. Maybe it's selective?

A scam would be if Bittrex actually blocked your account indefinitely without an explanation or ran off with your funds.
And what's about suddenly Disabled accounts ( ofcourse disabled withdrawal ) without any notification regarding to Unknown Reasons for more than 20 days while most accounts verified and legall?
Bitterx agree to allow any nationally starting registration and trading with no limit, I have account 2 years old and even without basic verification (I have proofs). Now bittrex.com want to apply some rules over those accounts and never care about what will happen. .
Why not allow withdraw our funds?? What's Bitterx said up to now?? What's about all unchecked tickets? We wait days to get answer and Nothing at all...
So 20 days with approved enhanced account and then more 5 days to support and after that.. still Disabled.
If Bittrex haven't enough support to manage this tickets, is that our problem?. Why did that?..
What I want to say here to all members : we haven't spare time to post and replay, we want to get out our funds from that exchange "Bitterx" and happy trading to all..
