hello

i tried to install a second and later third graphic card on this motherboard.. i know that it has only ONE right slot..

first card = GTX 980
second = GTX 980

i have PCI-E 1x - 16x flexlibler Riser

OS = Window 10 Pro

I have a second Powersupply.. the Ventilators of the 2. Card is running.. but i don't see it in the windows configuration..
do i have to change something in the bios

there are so many parameters which can be the problem.. therefore i prefer to ask..
would be great if somebody can help me..

That board can run up to three cards normally 1 in the PCIEx16 and 2 with risers PCIEX1 to PCIEX 16. It can go up to four, if you use X16 to X16 risers and move your first card up by making space to use all the 3 PCIEX1 those tiny slots which are 2 right down after the PCIEX16 and one right above it.

However back to your problem I think it must be something to the power supply, your PSU needs to have at least four PCIE express 6 pin power connectors, for both GTX 980, as one requires 2 x6 Pin power connectors.

Let me know the model of your PSU and also a picture if possible and I can go in more depth and try to figure out the problem you are having.

Many modern power supplies have smart fan control, that will turn fan on/off depending on temp reads, if you have a NEW power supply, it should run just fine. As Cerberus mentioned, make sure you have properly connected 6pin pcie power cables to each card. also it is recommended adding cards to your build one-by-one. For the start make one card work, then add another card, by the way whats your second supply model?
I have one ASUS P67 board running 3 amd cards, its a diff model, but chip set is the same - runs good, no problems.

Just so we don't give too many redundant suggestions, what else have you tried?

Have you tested each card independently (directly into the x16 slot) to confirm that both cards are in working condition?
Have you tested the riser? (with a single card into the x16 slot)
Have you tried using dummy plugs or attaching a monitor to the second card? (I don't think this would be your problem, but I haven't used Win10 for mining before.)
On my Asrock H81 Pro BTC, sometimes I've had to clear CMOS to get a card to be recognized. Have you tried this?
