The last 3 times I used Gyft, I copied and pasted the correct amount and the BTC address as I had done before.

Except now it says I underpaid and then they voide the transaction and send me a fee for half of what I paid.

These guys are rip offs and Im stupid for trying a 3rd time.

Fuck you Gyft. Glad you BTC sales dropped 90%!

So what actually had happen, IMO gyft is one of this legit site for gift cards but do you get in touch with their support for the time they send you a fee only half for what you paid? That is not what a trustworthy site does.  Undecided

I know what you are talking about!
Their shopping cart has a bug! It tells you that you underpaid so they refund less a ridiculous amount of miner fees. - $5 to $ $10.  Its not a lot of money but its the principle. I also emailed their customer support and they dont give a shit.

Use at your own risk!

I'm guessing what happened was something like this:

They said send 0.01 btc and you went to your wallet and entered 0.01 btc and then your wallet subtracted the miner's fee and they only got 0.00999 btc... Am I right?

Gyft use BitPay as their payment processor... you need to make sure that the amount they receive is the amount invoiced. A lot of (crap) wallets will actually subtract the miner's fee from the sent amount, rather than adding the fee to the sent amount. The result being that the recipient doesn't get the full amount.

If this is what your wallet is doing... Get a better wallet. What wallet did you send from?

As for the refund, obviously they'll need to pay a miner's fee to get your Bitcoins back to you... Apparently, they're using high fees to ensure fast confirmation times. No doubt if they used lower fees, everyone would moan that the refunds got "stuck"

I have never heard of that site nor have I used it before, but since you are accusing them of some shady practices, you should have provided some proof of what you say, like the transaction id, screenshots of your correspondence with the support, etc. Just accusing is not enough I would say without any proof or evidence.

Looks pretty reasonable if that was the case. Actually I've tried them once and the process was smooth. This was a few years back though.

Here are the images. they speak for themselves. T

hey ask for one amount, then they change the price and say you underpaid.

I determined it is actually Bitpays scam because I tried at Egifter and Bitpay did the same thing.

As you can see in the first they ask for .003195.
I sent and they received .003195.
Then the NEW price on the 2nd image is increased to .003518!

Please explain that! I paid exactly what they asked for and then it changed! It cost me $5 to $10 each time.

Which wallet you are using? It looks like you have only entered 0.003195 BTC while sending bitcoin from that wallet but wallet just uses some of those bitcoin for network fee and only sent 0.002572 BTC to bitpay that makes your payment under paid. But can't find real reason behind change in amount of bitcoin in two invoices but there is difference of 17 minutes around between those two invoices so might be it is due to change in bitcoin price.

where do you see the time? It all happened in about 5 minutes.

the wallet said my ."001395 was withdrawn"... to that address. i understand miner fees. There is nothing that said miner fees would be subtracted from my net withdrawal.

The reason the price increased is because you "underpaid"... so they add a second miners fee (as now they have to send your TWO payments to Gyft), basically they want you to cover THEIR miners fee for them to transfer the payment to the merchant. Notice how the firstscreenshot shows 1x transaction @ 0.000323 and the second shows 2x transactions.

If your wallet says "0.003195 withdrawn" then that is the root cause of the problem. Your wallet is NOT adding miners fee... it is subtracting the fee from the amount sent. Looks like your wallet used 0.000623 as a fee, which is even higher than the fee BitPay used during refund... so rather than moan about them deducting fees during refund (0.000496), I'd be asking questions about your wallet fees!!?!

i understand miner fees. There is nothing that said miner fees would be subtracted from my net withdrawal
That is an issue with your wallet or wallet provider (I'm guessing it is a web wallet?)... They subtracted the fee... NOT BitPay... What wallet are you using?  Huh
