A war will be mutually destructive for both the nations, and I don't think that China especially will be interested in starting another military confrontation at this point of time. China was not happy with Sikkim merging with India in 1975, and they have always tried to create problems in the Tibetan-inhabited regions of India (such as Ladakh, Sikkim, and Tawang).

War is bad for business. Why kill your customers? Besides, even if China wins this, I think it would be the most hurt in the long run. For one, it would further ruin its reputation. Almost none of its neighbors have a positive impression of it. Also, a country that is below replacement level birth rate can't afford to lose more people.

Are you sure about that? Because when China invaded Tibet, India had refused to support Tibet militarily. Not just India, but none of the world nations were ready to send weapons or other support to Tibet. The invasion occurred just a few years after the end of the WW2, and most of the UN member nations were not ready to get involved in another military confrontation.

I agree that India have quite capable army. But nukes are the only reason there won't be any war, only border incidents from time to time. Even when there is lot of equipment close to border from both sides, and when neither side want to ease the situation, I think they will sit to agree some things after some time.

India is having the demographic advantage as well. The Chinese population is ageing, and therefore they may be more concerned about any potential loss of life, while India can easily afford huge number of casualties, since the population is more youthful. But that doesn't mean that any future war will be beneficial for India. The economy will be wrecked in case of a war, and it will take years to rebuild it.

The Chinese are causing troubles everywhere that go and i dont know why they think that they can get away with everything that they do, and with their big land mass, why are they still fighting over small pieces of land. This is exactly what the Japanese were doing prior to the second world war.

They are indulging in bullying, because they know that they can get away with it. They have bullied almost all of the neighboring nations, and have received additional land area by threatening these countries. Even India fought a war against the Chinese almost 5 decades back, resulting in some 40,000 sq.km of Indian territory seized by the Chinese.

You are right. Yet china can also use their business for their personal gain and for war. If they will be banning their supply to indian countries it would also be a butthurt for india because if i am not mistaken more than 50% of their products are from china. Not only the philippines but also the other countries from asia were being bullied aside from japan.

I think they simply wants to conquer all the land and have fear on them .China is rich country and they have the most advance technologies ,they can also protect their country on wars they are ready on it before they take up actions expanding their lands over the Philippines . I thi k if countries don't take action with that it will be a fear of all country.

This is what I'm trying to say. India can handle a devastating war just because of their population. China would have a hard time recovering from population loss. Remember, they used to have a One Child Policy. Those soldiers are mostly their parent's only child.

Also one reason China is an asshole towards its neighbors in the S China Sea was because it's a vital supply line. If China goes to war with India, India can just go after ships destined for China right as they pass its territory, before they even get anywhere near Chinese bases in the S China Sea.

Another one, China's east may be a long way from the India border, but they'd also have a hard time shipping out their exports if war breaks out unless they can just go north and use routes on the Arctic. Travelling across the Pacific is not economical.

I do not believe that such a war is possible. India is booming right now and maybe in the future will make a serious competition to China in the world economy, but to fight them makes no sense. China recently even pursuing a policy of soft power.
