25 thousand BTC may not be much compared to the accounts used in the sell off but certainly may have a connection. Through the blockchain shouldn't it be plausible to see if those 25k hit one of the accounts or have we lost track of them entirely?

No there is no link. If there was I'd be in a way happy because it means I can recover the funds.
