The point of this thread is that I want to find a way to make a decent income playing online games. I going to ramble on about this and that, but that is the core thought.

Known Non Gamling Games:
Minecraft.cc Main Server (IP: play.minecraftcc.com)
Team Fortress 2 (Takes some manuvering through various sites: tf2outpost, tf2wh and tf2whx)

I won't bother mentioning the gambling games because they are plentiful and not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for games that you can play and earn BTC. Good examples (though they don't use bitcoins) are Diablo III, Entropia Universe, Afterworld: Survival and Planet of Dreams. Those four are the only RCE games I know of at the moment. So my question (FINALLY) is this: Do you know of any others and do they pay bitcoins or allow you to trade in bitcoins?

This.

Been looking all over for one. Even considered skinning a minecraft server with this functionality (the game lacks the skill progression required in this genre). One of the classic problems with RCE games is that it's murky legal territory moving cash around like that within the economy (facilitates laundering). Entropia had to pretty much become a bank in order to introduce the concept to the gaming market. Bitcoin being unregulated makes it a perfect fit for rce games.

Afterworld is dead, hate to be premature but I dont think it will recover from this:
http://my.afterworld.ru/survival/official-news/afterworld-survival-is-in-crisis

which is absolute suck because ive been skilling for 6 years in anticipation of its release.
meh.

Menhl Morningstar of society Pleasure and Power, btw

Do you think anyone would have any interest in a deeply featured bitcoin economy MUD?  Grin

I'll admit, I went into Second Life thinking I could possibly make some part time money from the linden dollars but of course there are all sorts of bullshit restrictions on everything you do there considering it's supposed to let you build and make anything you like, sandbox my arse. I was surprised to learn that the majority of the stuff made in second life was extremely old etc. and then I discovered why. The developers decided to charge you for every time you uploaded stuff and while it wasn't bad ( the prices were actually fairly reasonable and in their own virtual currency which you can earn by yourself ) they forced you and I mean quite literally forced you to read through this stupid anti-piracy lobby intellectual property questionnaire. No problem for me because I know all about that so I just gave them bullshit answers and passed easily, then came the bloody payment options, turns out the only way you can upload assets is to give away your credit card details! That means, no debit card, no paypal, no Bitcoin but actual motherfucking credit cards, so you're essentially being punished for being fiscally responsible.

Any kind of game or virtual world that has transferrable currencies is certainly going to be dodgy legal territory but equally they only way it will probably operate in the first place is with Bitcoin or some other version of it that you can convert to Bitcoin, too many restrictions etc. from the damn banks and so on.

I talked to the Afterworld devs, they are currently in search of an angel investor/funding source for the game  (its failing atm, needs capital for graphic and engine tweaks). Tried to educate them on bitcoin/ bitcoin crowdfunding (they could make a mint by accepting bitcoin!) but the community doesnt seem that receptive about the idea of bitcoin. Their arguments :

bitcoin isnt sufficiently trusted
there is a limited number of bitcoins
bitcoin mining is no longer profitable
bitcoin values fluctuate....

which indicated the level of education regarding bitcoin within that camp.
Personally, I've been taught not to look a gift horse in the mouth, so this kind of made me wash me hands of the matter. I think they are currently considering a Boomstarter campaign (Russian Kickstarter). Good luck with that....

This is funny to me, because I see much more stability in a world recognized virtual currency vs a platform only virtual currency. Maybe you guys might be able to talk some sense into someone, but the reaction i got kinda made me say, good luck, i could give two f**** if this succeeds.

Oh well,
I Tried Dudes.
