Riddle 2 has been solved!  The Bitcoin has been taken from the wallet.

 Congratulations to the winner!

Here is the answer card and explanation as to how it was solved: http://coinriddles.com/previous-riddles/

(I can't seem to post images on this forum- maybe my post count is too low?)

>

Riddle #3 will arrive at 9am on Saturday, August 5th, New York time!

It will be posted both to CoinRiddles.com and this thread!

Let's up the ante: The prize will be BIGGER!

I just hope the Bitcoin Goblin has learnt his lesson and doesn't get involved again this time...

Is it OK if I cheat by entering the private key in directory.io and just fill the empty spaces with some guess work to find the exact key in about 30 minutes?

I don't know if it's cheating but none of the 4 keys you posted is the right answer. I think it's not cheating if it's wrong Cheesy

If you start guessing for all the missing letters in they it will take much much longer than 30 min xD. Try it.

But if you know the first two are "U/u" and "S/s", the penultimates are "y/Y", and the last two are BMW M series "m/M" and "5/6", then the possible combinations will be:

2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 62 x 62 = 492,032

If a computer can test private keys at a rate of 1000 (possible?), it will take less than 500s = 8.3 min.

I don't know why you keep talking about directory.io but no it won't work. And good luck getting something out of it!

But if you know the first two are "U/u" and "S/s", the penultimates are "y/Y", and the last two are BMW M series "m/M" and "5/6", then the possible combinations will be:

If you know "US" and "m5" (that is m5 by the way if you reverse search the pic) there are still 5 missing characters.
2 (U,u) * 2 (S,s) * 2 (M,m) * (58^5) = 5,250,854,144
58 is 58 characters in a base58 string (aka private key).

My mistake was a wrong guess of Penultimate which reduced my number of tests to ~450 million each time which I performed twice and failed Tongue

My mistake was a wrong guess of Penultimate which reduced my number of tests to ~450 million each time which I performed twice and failed Tongue

I thought the penultimate section was regarding the private key: either the penultimate 3 characters of the penultimate character, repeated 3 times. To expand, I mean either:
a) vJX
b) XXX

to fill in the spaces. Unfortunately, it was something I completely didn't expect. (As for Elliott Gould I originally anticipated age, initials, number of movies, etc.)

The riddle is pretty ambiguous with the clues. It would be way more helpful if we were told the number of characters, and upper/lower case right off the bat.

Yes, this one was actually very difficult. I was going to release clues, but someone solved it. Congreats to them, surprised it was solved with basically 0 clues so quickly. If they are lurking, would love to hear how they did it/roughly how long it took them.

New riddle will be live in about 9 hours and 47 minutes. (9am New York time, August 5th)

Riddle #3: The Bitcoin Goblin's Revenge

Wallet on the blockchain: https://blockchain.info/address/1EtXLvmxUH1EYic81EPSqccjJAHwWAiSqF

The riddle:

This time you must watch a video to solve the riddle. Can you work out the private and take the bitcoin before someone else does?

The Riddle #3 video can found on the homepage:

http://CoinRiddles.com

It looks like the Bitcoin goblin is pretty upset  that you guys ransacked his goblin maze and stole the bitcoin private in the last riddle. He wants revenge. I hope he doesn't succeed.

Is anyone working on this? I was away the whole weekend and it seems very quiet here... Maybe everyone if looking at the price increase...
I have no idea how to get started with this. Clueless about the clues! Anyone can share their thoughts?

Good news is that we only have 6 variables, 62 ^ 6 = 56,800,235,584 combinations.

Somebody already solved it and withdraw it.The first two riddles was reasonable but this one didn't make any sense to me so i didn't bother too much but i'm still curious about answers. Smiley

I was just lucky. The answer is the length of the video, 143sec. The private key is:
