Even though I am a big supporter of the blockchain technology and specially of Ethereum, I am keeping an eye on Byteball and BlackByte development. They use a different technology (DAG instead of blockchain) and BlackByte looks like a promising coin for anonymity.

Thery are currently distributed for free if you already own Bitcoin or Byteball. Byteball is traded in exchange, but Blackbytes are only traded agains byteball in their own wallet.

Right now there are only 2 true anon currencies: $XMR with private ledger and $XVG with public ledger, everything else is way behind in tech against these.

- Zcash / Hush / Zen: Zcash being the first
- Zcoin
- Cloakcoin
- Monero / Sumokoin
- Verge

They are all very good and have a good future I think if developers continue their work well!

Zclassic - formed from Zcash, community driven coin
Aeon - also from the CryptoNote family
DeepOnion - Tor integrated, this has gone viral in recent weeks
Spectrecoin -  Tor integrated, formerly ShadowCash

My favorites of the privacy coins either by capital invested or sweat equity are Monero, Verge and Deep Onion.   

Two coins that are integrating anon capabilities are Byteball and Viacoin so these are worth keeping an eye on.

It is my view that the war on cash will lead to a major capital realignments to privacy coins via a vis cash, so fasten your seatbelts.

So you can not be tracked when you send or receive funds using one of these crypto coins at least not easily by anyone less than a super hacker. You can think of this as an extra layer of security to protect you and remain anonymous.

Thanks for the response!  I'm familiar with Tor; so it seems that the wallet itself uses the Tor network to communicate with other nodes.  Which coin was the first pioneer of this technique?

Currently SPECTRE is better than every ANON coin, and of course Monero
It already has working client with integrated TOR (and currently the only one)

AFAIK Tor integration was attempted by a number of coins, but couldn't name authoritatively which one was first. However, even with the "normal" Tor integration, there is a problem: several countries, including China, are blocking Tor usage by deploying Deep Packet Inspection. To get around this Tor has been extended to use Pluggable Transports, of which OBFS4 is the most effective one. Monero, PIVX, Dash ... none of them is able to use OBFS4. The only coin I know of which has that capability is the technically superb, but commercially as of yet underappreciated XSPEC (SpectreCoin). They cleverly also implemented PoSv3 instead of PoW, for the benefit of privacy conscious users with little computing power (such as a simple Android phone).

That Monerolink PDF was written in part by Andrew Miller, who is on the official Zcash team (https://z.cash/team.html). That removes any impartiality which, being an academic, he's supposed to have. And, as seen in the link above, the faults they find with Monero can be easily debunked and/or those faults no longer apply since they've been fixed and have been fixed for some time. So, it's just FUD, but do your own research and see for yourself.
