I'm working on building a new website with various bitcoin games. There seems to be a lot of them out there already. Should I shelf this idea and find something unique?

Looking for more suggestions   Wink
It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

We have different people here in the community that varies in likes and interest. Some of them surely wants "new" and "unique" idea about casinos. But to match with the competition today, it will required hardwork, effort and deep brainstorming because it's quite difficult to gained popularity now because as you mentined, there are lot of them already.

If you think you know already some of the rish and how it will handled then continue. If that is your goal after all and you really like to build a site like that for long time now then I don't see any problem pursuing the goal.

Something unique has its pros and cons. There will always be some people who will want to play the game they have seen before and understand, at the same time there will be people who will be interested in trying out new things. So my suggestion is, keep both the tradational ones and add some unique ones, so that you can catch both types of fishes Grin

Nevada now allows companies using blockchain technology in their business to avoid paying taxes...can you imagine what this will do to blockchain/cryptocurrency and Las Vegas casinos??

I've purchased some casino related ethereum domains and am going to build out casino projects there. Bitcoin doesn't seem as conducive to coming together as groups and creating these products/services. Ethereum ENS domains (.eth) are robust and have a lot of projects underway.

Feel free to follow on Medium  --  I am actually going to write a casino post pretty soon here too! Usually write daily updates on the crypto market and entrepreneurial ideas:

A bitcoin online casino is still a great idea I think but there is as you say lots of competition going on.

Honestly though I think it will gain marketshare from other fiat based casinos in the near future, take a look at some of the projects aimed at this like funfair, edgeless, dao.casino.

My thoughts exactly. Casinos are a volatile, overpopulated and yet, versatile market.

I have written my own code for a dice game, roulette etc; but suck at the cards.

On a side tangent; I've thought of going more arcade style gaming (with bitcoin features) but not sure how to expand on that idea. thoughts are on pacman style eating coins, mario style with coins (have a game written that could easily use this) or even diving into a rpg style game with cryptocoin features.

My career counselor wants me to focus on sticking with proven careers, (keep my day job - he says); but my hours keep getting cut  Angry

A casino has to be essentially transparent, maybe you can look into projects like edgeless and vDice still being in development this projects.

Now also people like bitcoin casinos. Because  every day new people are entering into this cryptoworld and they find it easy use bitcoin casinos . Even people from restricted countries can play casinos games  using bitcoins. But to gain visitors , I think you need to start a signature campaign like what other successful bitcoin casinos do. Then only people will consider it has a geniune and paying site. Even sometimes I also use casino sites. But I only pick up casino sites whose campaign is still running. Because I have a feeling that there won't be any problem during withdrawal.

-> The market is saturated, your idea wouldn't stand a chance even if you somehow manage to launch it.Especially when,
           - Market isn't quite ready to accept drastic changes over the traditional gambling games.
           - If you have huge investment backup, you can still drag the traffic somehow to try out the games which they will, but only future knows if they'll come back.
           - Overall,it's a waste of time, efforts and money if it doesn't work out.
-> With the advent of new casinos in the market everyday, you will need to spend double on the marketing over the actual  casino development/management.

Curious on how/why other successful bitcoin casinos cultivate a signature campaign? If they're successful; is the campaign really necessary (or am i misinterpreting)

It's been a while since the last time I got into gambling section, but lately it seems rare to find gambling signature and there are some left such as bitdice and bitsler which always show up everywhere and the rest maybe keep playing on gambling threads.
But, I'm sure there are some people who enjoys gambling and do it regularly, especially for sports betting and poker game.
So, you have to offers something unique and fresh for your gambling project in order to attract more people.

The market is indeed definitely saturated, but even without a very big budget for marketing, you could still succeed.
It just takes time to get your name and brand out there.

That said, just to be able to run a gambling site, you need a huge budget for the bankroll alone, unless you crowdfund part of your bankroll.

How ? Without a big budget of marketing there is chance a gambling project can be as popular in the market.Look at the existing famous websites, from crypto-games to Rollin.io,they have their signature campaigns/blog campaigns running even though they are established, they have to keep competing with the growing market. You think a website launched today will be as popular as crypto-games without even spending half as much as they did for promotion ? Wrong.Money is the key.

It just takes time to get your name and brand out there.
Yeah but without marketing, the brand ain't gonna establish itself.

I think it would be very difficult not only gambling site but other sites are well without promotion. And we all know that promotion or marketing involves a lot of money it in. Of course there are Internet Marketing companies that will charge you cheap and promise to promote your site but you are definitely get what you are paying for. Cheap promotions. That's why there are still signature campaigns even for established casino in the forum. Take a look at Admiral casino, initially it was a promising casino and they put up a signature here. Unfortunately, they decided to stop it (I think they ran it for about a month only). So now, no one is talking about them. Not even in the gambling section. So we don't know if they captured at least a portion of our gamblers here.

That said, just to be able to run a gambling site, you need a huge budget for the bankroll alone, unless you crowdfund part of your bankroll.

Of course any casino that are already established began with a huge capital to really put there name on top. But I'm not really sure if investor's money is involved in bankroll. I guess its just the case of most of them though.

It's mixed.  Bitcoin sites require less initial capital than fiat-based gambling sites because crowdfunded bankrolls are common and your share of the original profits can help contribute to later promotion.

Satoshi Dice was an absolutely huge gambling site back in the day, but it relied on low transaction fees.  Now, Bitcoin gambling is not necessarily so much better than traditional gambling - you can still place small bets, but you have to accept that you lose a large amount of it as soon as you deposit.

If you want something unique, wait for SegWit to activate and LN to become used.  You can be the first gambling site to accept microtransactions through LN.

They are very popular but competition is too fierce. I would shelve the idea for now and come up with something original unless you think you can do it better than everyone else.

I couldn't find a decent poker project.
I know there was Seal with clubs, however they had to close. Than they opened again, but had fewer online, cause of loss of android client. A lot of people liked it. Its simplicity, rather fast withdraws, phone client made them decent income. Think over it. You may search their topic here on 'talk'

Of course it is still popular. I remember when I just joined to bitcoin two years ago it was like 80 people on poker tournament, now it is thousands! You just need something that will make you attractive from other gambling sites which already exist and have tons of users.
