If you happen to frequent the altcoin sections, you're probably aware of the number of bounty threads within the Marketplace (Altcoins) board. If you don't, here's a brief rundown - at the time of writing:

  • 35 out of 40 threads (87.5 %) on both the first and the second pages of Marketplace (Altcoins) are bounty threads.
  • The number of replies in these threads range from a few pages to 104 pages (2000+ posts) worth of posts.
  • These threads get posted to daily and thus end up pushing down any other type of thread.

Since it's clearly making the Marketplace (Altcoins) board unusable for anyone disinterested in bounty campaigns, I contacted theymos about it who asked me to see what the community has to say. So here's a poll. If you  have something more to say about the matter than "I voted for X" or "this is very good idea", feel free to post.

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Yeah,  it's called the trashcan. They should be in their own board but some sort of restrictions or punishments need to be made on them because they shouldn't be allowed to operate here as they are. Not sure why alt coin giveaways aren't allowed but we allow signature campaigns with most accepting hundreds or even an unlimited amount of users with absolutely no quality checks at any stage of the campaign which is far more damaging to the forum as the spam is spread everywhere. I think we should consider not even allowing them if they don't pay in bitcoin because that will stop the vast majority of these lazy, cheap get rich quick scams.

The signature guidelines thread should also be changed into strict rules and any campaign not following them or running a poorly managed campaign should have their entire threads trashed and their accounts banned. Maybe then people will start looking after their campaigns but if we continue to let them get away with doing absolutely nothing then they will.

Bounties and Ad campaigns are all about promoting a project.

I can't see a "bounties" forum, but more something around the marketing, like a "Projects Marketing" forum that include all kind of promotion for the altcoin space (giveaway, bounties, campaigns, and maybe later something new).

Better to have a bounty section but named Project Campaigns/Promotional Activities rather than Bounties. Don't see it as Services and then again people would get confused whether to post to apply for jobs/services or whether it's for signature and other campaigns like the BTC services section.

The marketplace should be mainly for only trading altcoins for goods/other altcoins.

I'm in favor of two solutions: a new board, and a rule that bans all of them. I'm more favorable of the latter.

Yeah,  it's called the trashcan.
Yes. It's more trouble than it is worth it and they often generate a lot of spam in the process.

The signature guidelines thread should also be changed into strict rules and any campaign not following them or running a poorly managed campaign should have their entire threads trashed and their accounts banned. Maybe then people will start looking after their campaigns but if we continue to let them get away with doing absolutely nothing then they will.
How many times do we need to scream at theymos before he does something about this?

Yes, create a new Bounties (Altcoins) board and move all bounties and ad campaigns there

Alt Market place look only bounty thread place. Better make new bounties board and move all there. So something market related post will be shown on market place.

Also the other services will be thrown at the bottom and not be visible because of bounties. I think it is better to pick the 2nd choice more than the 1st like you. Services aside from bounty and ad campaigns should still be posting in Martketplace (Altcoins) and by this they will be given a fair attention since there will be no bounties flooding the board.

The poll is now locked. theymos created a new "Bounties (Altcoins)" board and as such all bounties and ad campaigns should be posted there. Since this issue is resolved, I'm locking this thread (in part to prevent sig ad spammers from filling up the thread with pointless "it's great" posts).
