We’ve grown up listening to norms set by society. These norms are presented to us as sacred laws. Break them, and you are labeled “outcast’. Well being called an outcast excites me. I would feel proud if I’d be labelled as an ‘outcast’.
The most feared thing is “what would people say?” Well I say screw people and follow your heart. At the end of the day it’s your happiness that matters.
If in the eyes of society being a doctor is the only respectable job than that shouldn't stop you from following your passion of becoming an artist or musician.
obviously it doesn't mean you should do illegal stuff or harm other people.

Pedophiles are outcasts, and they surely broke society's rules.

Don't know what you're talking about, but you better don't do illegal stuff, jail is not a good place to be.

Well... that's a little edgy. There's a reason why there are laws and norms depend from culture to culture. If being an outcast exites you, well then join ISIS and you'll be hated and outcast by the whole world, I don't know what to tell you. :/

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.

Remember the time when any self-respecting parents would do everything to prevent their children from becoming actors? Yup, neither do I.

The point is, society can only have progress if a certain level of dissent is tolerated, otherwise you end up with something like the Matrix. That's how women got to vote and work, how monarchies gave way to democracies, etc...

Not everything you do in society to be labeled an outcast is illegal, so it's not like OP is promoting that sort of thing. He / She is merely stating that they want to be different in society and follow their dreams/heart. That's a pretty known thing today and many people follow this, even with the social repercussions that are present today.

This is something that I've always followed around friends and family though, as I do allow them a fair share of opinion in my life -- though at the end of the day I make my own decision on what I want to do about stuff in my life and if I end up being an outcast or whatever-- so be it.

Do what you want for you, not for anyone else.

Beng an Outcast isn't a cool thing to be. That is why society is important we get to be united and have our freedom, without society we would be reckless and have no one to look up to when in need. If one thing is illegal in your society then don't do it, if you want to be labeled as an "Outcast", then go. But in my opinion, a person that is not in a society is a person that is blind to reality.

You are in a bitcoin forum so you are already different, being different is not a bad thing, it allow us to see things from a different perspective, as an example there are not many people that have adopted bitcoin but if you do and bitcoin eventually does great then you will get an edge by being brave enough to be different.

Sometimes you just have to break the norms. It gives us that certain feeling that we need once in a while. Just don't go as far as going to jail, it is another story.

If everyone's a doctor and there are no artists, who will make the music, art and literature society need? Going against what society "suggests" is not always bad, provided of course that what you want to do is reasonable enough. If people don't go against authorities and social order, we'd still be wrapping wounds with meat, still be using the heliocentric system, etc. We wouldn't be where we are now.

People who break the norms often get involved in some counter culture movement that is actually controlled and centralized. They aren't really the creative people that they think they are.
