Hi everyone,

I would be interested to know if anyone would like to rent space & power for bitcoin mining from Cogent Communications?

Cogent have over 50 facilities worldwide, with various space, power, and connectivity options.

As an example, half a 42U rack with power (110v/20amp), and 1Gb connectivity would cost $835/month. This is the total cost for running the miners 24/7.

As this is a business grade Data Center, there are no issues with cooling, resiliency, security, etc..

If you want to mine the Bitcoin, you first buy the AntMiner things..

Only profit the ASIC miner for BTC.

Am i missing something here?
Let's assume we're mining with an S9:
It consumes 1375 Watt and hashes @ 13Th... give or take (https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/bitmain/antminer-s9-miner/)

volt x amp = watt
110 volt * 20 amp = 2200 Watt
Cost : $835/month


Let's assume we buy 3 S9's and a full rack...
3*S9 = 4125 Watt, ~40 Th/s
2*half a rack = 4400 Watt @ $1670/month

The cost of 3 S9's + PSU's =~ $4500 (if you're extremely lucky, it'll probably be a lot more).

At this diff, BTC price and block reward, we'd have following figures:

If everything stays status quo, the hardware *should* have payed for itself in about 140 days.
If we include the customs charges, some Shipping and handling, and the fact an S9 isn't always stable... Also factor in a bit of diff increase, and we would be looking at ~200 days ROI.

Of course the cost can decrease, depending on bandwidth requirements. I included a 1Gb internet connection, but this may be overkill.

Query: Because most miners each pull between 1-1.5kw most use server PSU's fed with 208-220V vs 110V. Is 220V available?
Very power dense equipment. ref part of my farm from a couple years ago

Bandwidth per miner is in the few 10's of kB/s so ja T1000 is way overkill.

That cost is a bit high, considering that apartments with electricity included are less than that in some areas. You do get a lot of bandwidth, which you don't need much of.

If I reduced the bandwidth to 50Mb, the total cost would be $585/month.

This includes cooling, security, 3-phase power feed - which is more stable than an apartment set up.

I too not so long ago thought about this. But on the Internet, I did not find other like-minded people.
