It was an edit. They mean to say in the future there will be no fiat.

Plus, there was Gold Press Latinum in Deep Space Nine... I still think we should call some fraction of a Bitcoin "Latinum"  Grin

Ferengi = Capitalists

Federation = Communists.

Ferengi = ugly

Federation = beautiful

No, the Federation has moved towards a post-scarcity society where money simply doesn't have the same position it has in this world. Which isn't odd considering it's possible to get everything you want from the replicators (tea, earl grey, hot).

Still, money is mentioned and referred to as 'credits'. I can imagine these are very much like what Bitcoin is going to be someday, so once again, Star Trek was ahead of it's time.

I'm living in China and Into Darkness was released in theaters a week earlier here.  Naturally, I saw it opening night.

It was awesome.

My Trek credentials include:
- I've seen every star trek movie at least 3 times (except for the new one, only once).
- On average, I've seen every episode of every series about 3 times each.
- I've been to 2 Star Trek conventions.
